Thumbs up '17 1LE's GoodYear Eagle F1 G:3.

After looking at the performance of the '17 1LE at MT's better driver's car, where the '17 1LE easily beated the 5th. gen Z28 & ZL1 lap times and on most of the general performance numbers with just stock GY Eagle F1 G:3 street tires sized simillar to our stock ZL1 tires but on 30's ratio instead of our 35's. I wonder when they would be available for our 5th. Gen ZL1, it seams that the tire was a lot of help to 6th gen 1LE besides that the car is lighter, nimbler and with a great chassis and suspension, those tires even performer better than the R's trofeos on the Z28. That is amazing!

It's amazing what a few years more of development can do.

tires make a huge difference on a car.
I always wondered what the ZL1 would have done on the ring' with the same wheel / tire combo as the Z28.

Looks like the same F1 G2 tire as the 5th gen ZL1. I can't find anything about a G3. It does look to be lower profile 30 instead of a 35

Question

Then the magic handling comes just from the suspension and that is lighter compared to the fifth gen?

That's exactly where it comes from.

Not all of it. The tires are not the same as previous generation. From http://gmauthority.com/blog/gm/chevr...17-camaro-1le/

"Goodyear Eagle F1 tires with a unique compound and construction developed exclusively for the Camaro for exceptional grip"

The tread pattern is certainly different as seen in pictures.

Thanks Boother, I also had read that somewhere in the web. I really hope that those tires could be available for our cars. I would be the first one on line to get them.

Yea those in that pic definitely have G2 on them. Must be new compound spec. There is a spec on those, but I don't kmow if there is one on the 5G tires. I know when I put the Michelin PSS on it was night and day. Which I did go wider.

Question

Hi Guys
Any news update of when those tires would be available on the open market? I hope that they also come available on our ZL1 tire sizes.

Talking

On tire rack already is showing upcoming GY Eagle Supercar 3 tires, but they just come in 30's, not in 35's like ours, I suppose that those are the ones from the great handling 6th. gen SS 1LE and perhaps from the magnificent gen ZL1. This is looking good. I wonder how would they handle and look on our 5th. Gen ZL1's.

Well the biggest question I had was how would of the 5th gen ZL1 done with an automatic and the trofeos from the Z28 on the ring. I think the number would of been magic. New car and driver has the 6th gen ZL1 pegged at 3950 curb weight. So I'm not sure that I'm buying it being a much lighter more nimble car. Feels like repackaging. Either way Im sure it will be an awesome car for the people that buy it. Im staying with mine, as I've bolted on and am happy with a 650rwhp car. For now...
