howling in rear end of a 2012 v6 camaro rs
i took a used 2012 v6 RS for a test drive yesterday. there's a howl coming from the rear. the seller kept telling me the diff is fine, and tried to blame it on headers or brakes. neither of which are likely
i've been reading up on the oil seal issue, but i'm not sure if it affects the v6 diff i assume the first thing to do would be ask GM if they have any history on diff work for the VIN if i bought it, i'd likely drain / fill the diff, but if that doesn't make it go away what's the best / cheapest option? it's just a daily driver and i don't want to upgrade hubs, alxes, drive shaft, just to go to a more beefy diff (It is a v6 after all...) thanks! Cheapest fix would likely swap the diff for a used one. It could also be a wheel bearing hub since mine sounded like a diff when the hub bearings went out.
