I almost felt bad for the dodge CEO, but the “this is the reality, this is not our choice…” etc really gets old. Dealt with the same type of reasoning from my employer during the clot shot fiasco… I was blessed/ prepared enough to have the ability to tell them to pound sand.
ICE may or may never have gone extinct without this ‘influence’, but at least the ultimate fate would’ve been determined by free markets; based in some measure on consumer desires and their willingness to pay for the features they most prefer. But C-suite bootlickers gotta’ boot lick. |

Since it was made political EVs are going to have to deal with X side not wanting it because X side is pushing it which is happening now. I have full confidence whether it went political or not that there will still be more than enough Americans that will put up the middle finger to EVs. Ford has an ICE and EV division and Toyota (they are behind on EV development) is going to keep pushing the ICE movement because well it is what Americans want and the money is still there no matter what pencil pusher wants in Washington, Europe etc. |

This latest Dodge transition fiasco to EV episode should be a wake up call as to how bad a no ICE world will become. Pretty disheartening to see. Soon the Camaro as we know it will be gone as well and the years ahead will seem even bleaker.
No matter what happens with this so-called Transition to EV or Electrification, it will never be enough. Creating crises and shortages and then pretending to solve them is the new m.o. of the Green progressives pushing EVs. More spending, more taxation of fossil fuels and oil, more regulation of available artificially created energy shortages will rule the days and years ahead. The perverse insanity of the Paris Climate Accords, surrendering the U.S economy to the Chinese, self-inflicted draining of middle-class wealth and prosperity touted as necessary to complete this Transition can all be reversed with the right election results. There is still time. We don't have to copy Europe or China. The Dodge attempt to play the EV game shows how unfair and unnecessary this so-called Transition is becoming. |

Yeah... I'm not looking forward to the time those "new world" proponents finally admit they were wrong, because that'll mean we no longer have a country

BTW this is how you do a launch (and what kind of car Dodge might have introduced if their hands weren't tied, not at this quality and price range of course, but in spirit):

Well the title of this thread is much more believable. There has been talk of the demise of the Mopar Hemis for years; It was inevitable that they would cease production on them.
What is more regrettable, personally, is that with the end of the muscle cars and the probable end of the Camaro, the excitement and life of current automobiles would become sterile. It is my own opinion, but I do not see anything that is remotely interesting or an example of an EV that generates any kind of excitement. Automobiles in the future will end up being expensive living utility equipment that can transport people to places. That's it. I will probably end up defecting to Honda or Acura or any manufacturer that still promotes ICE vehicles. It is a very sad state of affairs for automobiles as I see it. Additionally, if the EVs end up being lukewarm or fail to live up to the success that the auto makers are hoping for, then some makers will be in for very hard times.

I filled up with about 12 gallons the other day. I was on my way in about 5 minutes.
When EVs can go from 25-30% to 100% in that time and give me at least 300 mile range, then I will consider buying one. Until then, they can keep 'em. No, no, no, no sir. Don't want 'em. Can't use 'em. Couldn't afford 'em if I wanted to.

This is one of the positives (depending on your use case). Road trips still take some planning as it stands today and folks often find chargers aren't operational when they get there. If I keep this Blazer reservation, I bet we will still take ICE for long distances.
