ZL1 oil pressure too high?
Hi,
Can somebody tell me if it´s normal and if no, why I am getting this pressure? ZL1 2018 A10, 10k miles, with Elite Catch Can and Mobil1 0w40, life at 45% . Thank you.

Mine would hit max under wot right before it failed. What's your hot oil pressure at idle?

Mine went to that pressure reading before it failed as well...Watch the gauge the next few times you drive it. Once it settles back to idle, it may go straight to zero.

The way yours is acting I have to believe that it is ready to fail just like many here

A couple comments, and a few things to look at:
Sending unit failing. Most common. Oil pump pressure relief valve sticking. Also a known issue. Possible pickup issue but rare. The important thin is to watch the pressure closely and as mentioned above, do not run it if it drops to zero!! Good Luck! |

One thing I’ve read up on is running the 0w40 will cause higher pressures at WOT compared to the 5w30, something to keep an eye on for sure.

I run 5w30 in mine and it does this. As the OP replied to my thread on this issue. It was the technicians response to showing me a GM document on the proper levels for the oil pressures.
If it is failing then keep an eye on it or just go ahead and replace it. Mine still does this and I've gone to a number of auto cross events plus spirited driving from time to time. |

This was posted in the oil pump failure poll but incase you missed it.
“ These conditions may be caused the by the oil pump control valve stuck off and commanding high oil pressures (95 psi) and/or the oil pump face may be damaged. If these conditions are found, the tensioner spring in the timing chain guide may be “short” and not fully seated into the guide pivot end. (Fig. 19) Cycling the oil pump control valve will not cause any changes in the oil pump response. Replace the timing chain tensioner guide.” https://gm-techlink.com/?p=12041 |
