My dealer wasn't thrilled about it and basically said no. I threw a fit (Chevy advertises this online!) and they agreed to put together a quote for me. Waiting to hear back.

I know the local shop who did my cam was doing a 3.91 install on a camaro on the lift next mine. I'll ask them how they set it up.

Do you guys think there's any worry that GM will stop making this kit with the end of the 5th gen?

Wow really? My dealer put the 3.91 gear ratio on my 2012 SS no problem.. Usually the service people want there comission which they make of parts.

I would say use a local shop, but I'm sure you in the same boat as me and scared of losing the warranty.

Yup - exactly. Could definitely get it done somewhere else (and probably would rather 3.73 anyway) but need to have it done by GM for warranty. I'm on vacation now but I'll have to give them another call when I get back to see if they've finished my quote...

Just called my dealership and asked for a quote, they said 1600. He didn't seem to have any issue what so ever when I said it's for a stock L99. He said the labor is 9-10 hours. I said let's work on that labor and let's get it done if we can work out a deal.

Had my gears done at my local Chevy shop for 800 bucks installed this did include throwing in a set of 1LE axle shafts I had bought. I supplied my own gears and recal sheet and there wasn't a issue, but that being said my cars in a manual. 1600 including gears seems kinda of high.

For that get an entire differential shipped to your door for $1700 and swap it out in your driveway. Sell you old one (or keep it)

I had a dealer quote $1020 plus parts... The GM Kit can be found for under $400

After reading through all this bullshit and wanting to jump out a window I tried to get some composure. You need to go to a new dealer or a custom tuner. End of conversation.
