If those shifts take .25 of a second then just the transmission alone spends over 1 second of the run shifting. Now reduce that shift time to .15, speed up the shift torque recovery time, and now the transmission is only using a little over a half second of a the 1/4 mile run to make gear changes. Note, These numbers are for example...I am not saying the A10 takes .25 to shift. The A10 is definitely slower on the first 2 shifts then gets much quicker on the 4-5 & 5-6. So averaged out it might be close to the example I used.
Thanks King for the explanation. So, the further you take a build like adding a 2650 to the car, you're just not going to drop the ET as much as the 2017-2019 cars would.

Flush or drain/fill?

It is not a drain and fill. The dealer hooks it up to some machine that pumps out the fluid, while the new stuff goes in. There is also a spin-on type filter that gets changed.

I would definitely change the diff fluid if you got the car new. Once at 1500 miles, then another at about 3k miles. After that, I think you are probably fine following the maintenance schedule unless you track, in which case, log the hours and change according to that.

The fluid gets pretty dirty for the e-diff during the break-in period. This is for my SS 1LE when I changed the fluid at 1500 miles.

A spin off filter for the A10? I know the pan has a filter but a spin off filter?

Shouldn't be a spin off but a one secured by 2 bolts. Look at picture #6

the A10 does not have a "spin-off" filter... It is a typical looking transmission filter held in place with a couple of retaining bolts.

Guys,

Do you have to request adding the LSD additive when requesting the differential fluid change (OEM stock GM Fluid) or this already included?

If they did a flush and also dropped the pan and changed out the filter, $240 is a great price

I'm going to set up an initial 5k trans service at my dealer, did the rear diff myself (Amsoil Severe Gear oil with "slip lock" additive)

I agree. It's a cheap service for what you get, and considering the cost of the transmission, it's money well spent.

The filter is in the pan, so they would still need to drop the pan and change the gasket to get to the filter to change it.

I want to be sure I understand this:

Does 15 track days equal 50,000 miles in terms of wear/tear on, and needing to service, an A10 trans?

Seems hard to believe.

It's actually 15 hours of track time, then you change the fluid. Where in the manual does it say 50,000 miles? I tried to find the transmission service interval for street use, and I could not find it.

Since I usually drive my car pretty hard, because it is not a daily driver, I will probably keep changing it every 10,000 miles or so. I still change the diff every year. That fluid gets nasty real fast.
