Got my cap from local Chevy parts dept., but any GM dealer can accommodate the request. Next-day delivery from local GM warehouse for $8.60.

Dexos has an "Approved List". Any oil in this list is certified and safe to use.
https://www.centerforqa.com/dexos-brand2/
https://www.centerforqa.com/dexos-about/#specTable

Here is a link to a complete table with all oils some "crazy motor oil guy" from Poland tested and his findings: Not necessarily Dexos, but gives a nice overview.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...pgg/edit#gid=0

He also has a Youtube channel - watch his test videos if you like.

I am coming up on an oil change soon and for warranty protection, should I probably keep using 5W30 until GM makes it official with the Camaro to switch it over to this 0W40?

Assume you got this from GM. Do you have a part number?

Normally I wouldn't care, but the ability to track the car without the need to switch oil every time is a huge plus. I'll be going to this oil at the next oil change.

Checked two dealers around me and both show it as “New part - not yet available” with no ETA.

I checked with my dealership and they didn't have a clue.

Is there a GM part number for this?

Bill

This is great news!

I am interested to know what the recommendation will be in the Camaro owners manual for ZL1 1LEs....because although all track-time Camaros called for 0 or 5-40 for the track...the ZL1 1LE specifically required 15W50...hmm

I wonder if the higher cornering forces of the ZL1 1LE are a factor. ??
