LTFT

Please is there any body can make a scanning with the OBDII tool for the LTFT
While driving & in stop

Share us with a video or write what you see for the:

Long Term Fuel Trim

I think if you have any problem with rough idle or any miss fire or any problem with the engine like running Rich or lean air/fuel mixture , the LTFT will help to know what is happening in your engine.

Let’s make a ground data to help each other.

In my case my car 2018 SS run too Rich
Much fuel

LTFT Bank1 and Bank2 are negative -5% or -6% while driving and my leg on throttle.
When i release the throttle then LTFT go to -13% or -14%

There is a smell for fuel in engine oil

I think i have leaking injectors.

All this happened when i added (STP fuel injectors cleaner 5-1).

Before that every thing was perfect. LTFT was +2% to -3% up to driving situations ( acceleration or down shifting.

That’s what happen with my car.

Share us yours

I remember you telling me you bought a catch can. Did this happen after installing your catch can? And is the catch can installed now?

If the catch can is clogged, or limiting flow, wouldn't this theoretically be able to influence a rich condition? Just a thought.

Do you use a oiled air filter?

Those ltft are normal under decel

The trims will go more negative as temperatures increase?

No.
Stock filter and stock air intake.
After every oil change, the (Long Term Fuel Trim) go to around 0%, but 2 days later go to negative like -5% -10 %

I’m pretty sure i have leaking injectors

Thank you for the interesting

Update

After changing the HPFP , fuel injectors and oil
The car runs better
on idle LTFT are: -5 % bank1 and -7 Bank2
While acceleration LTFT are: -2 % bank1 -2 bank2
When i release the throttle pedal LTFT are: -10% bank1 & -12% bank2
That’s mean the car it’s away better but still running Rich.

I’m playing to drive it for a long trip in high speed, see if it will be better.
I mean remove the carbon buildup in the cats and exhaust.
Hope i did add something good for Camaro ‘s community.

Update, please read to the end.

After driving the Camaro for about (300 km or 200 mile) in high speed (160 - 220 km/hr) or (100 - 140 mil/hr) the car return almost to the original performance, it’s like a new car.

Response very fast.
It’s looks like very clean exhaust tips in rear end, I think the carbon buildup removed.

Note:
The numbers for the LTFT looks a way better. I did see them +1 many times, but the numbers still in negative side in usual, that is mean :

Camaro’s engine runs Rich in original situation
I think, in my opinion: things to do:

1- Cold Air intake ( a good quality) don’t buy any one suck hot air from engine’s bay. Never ever or You will get more Rich numbers. Be wise.
2- Exhaust system, removing the pipes where it’s narrow banded beside the differential , that will make more Air flow.
2- deleting 2nd cats maybe , but I don’t recommend.
.
Any way do not ever use STP fuel cleaner, or something not recommended.
Hope you did get some good info from this thread.

Getting it tuned would clean that up for you. How are you reading the fuel trims?

There is nothing wrong with those fuel trims. Slightly negative when cruising is normal. The fuel trims spike when you let off the throttle...again normal.

To live in sweden,
No tune shop, no body want to touch the car.
Numbers for LTFT are: -4 or -5 in general
When i remove the stock paper filter the numbers go to zero or +1 +2

I will buy Roto fab air intake filter.

Problem is: everything I want to by from USA need to pay much almost double for the shipping DHL and taxes for Sweden
Example:
Roto fab is 550 $ in USA and 1000 $ in Sweden
Need time.

Thank you a lot for your comment
