New exhaust need retune?

I recently installed a new exhaust system. After the installation the car acts like it has a miss or something is really wrong. It surges, pops under wide open throttle and the wideband is all over the place at idle and during a pull. I was told I wouldn't need a tune again, but nothing else was changed. All I did was remove the exhaust it was previously tuned with ( factory piping with no cats, resonators, or mufflers) and installed speed engineerings 3" xpipe exhaust. I already had their longtubes headers. Car is cammed, has a 3400 stall and gears.

Somethings wrong. You either have a leak or something else isn’t right.
Spark plug not firing or lead isn’t on etc.

I mean obviously something is wrong. But nothing was touched except the exhaust piping under the car. It ran perfectly fine until I changed the exhaust and I'm reading conflicting things with some people saying you must always tune and then my tuner telling me I don't need to. When obviously, something is making the ECU not react right. All connections are extremely tight (air impact tightened) and not leaking. Just figured maybe someone else in here had put a full exhaust on and maybe had a similar issue. Or didn't.

Check the air flow sensor. Those things can go bad unexpectedly. No you do not neeed a tune after changing the mufflers. Also check for codes.

Yes, if you add headers to your exhaust, you need a tune. Otherwise, no.
If your tuner is with his weight...he would still have you come in to double check things and diagnosis.
So, If I were you, Id go back to my tuner and get some kind of handle on things.

Its not the tune. Its either a cracked spark plug, unplugged wire, unplugged MAF, or other stuff like that.

was there any welding during your exhaust install? a bad ground on the welder could fry electronics. you must have codes?

Make certain that your O2 sensor extension connectors are good and plugged in, sounds like that loop might be open.

If I read OP's post right, he only replaced catback. He already had headers.

Sounds to me, based on what the OP has said, something like a maf sensor, loose plug wire, or loose o2 connector is the problem. The fact that it happened when he changed the exhaust is just a coincidence, unless like "bottletalk" said, if there was welding done with a poorly grounded welder.

Exactly what I was trying to say by he has problem and pointed out some of the likely culprits. It seams like he didn’t like my advice and is still stuck on the fact that he changed exhausts instead of troubleshooting and figuring it out.
