Looking for more sound on my ZLE

Looking for input ….

Background- had a M6 ZLE with borla Axel back and it was exactly what I wanted. I sold the M6 and moved the Borla over to my A10 thinking I would get the same sound. Unfortunately not. On the A10 below 4K it’s very tame - not stock tame but not to my liking, not like the pops and burble that I got with the M6. Now, I did use a clamp on this install - and wonder if small air gaps might be there and cause loss of sound?

In any case - what do you recommend I do next to add more sound at idle or below 3k? I don’t want to do headers or remove secondary cats…any other options?

Thanks all

I have the Borla catback system specifically the S-Type, and I get pops and burbles when decelerating from higher rpms or manually shifting. With my valves completely open utilizing my M2W switch it isn't tame at all for me. Maybe it's the Axleback that is your issues?

The ATAK would be more to your liking. From what I’ve read, the sport is a better match if you decide to add headers later. Maybe a set of headers would give you the sound you’re looking for.

Buddy of mine has a 2017 ZL1 A10. All he has is a rotofab and muffler delete using magnaflow axel back system and his car is as loud if not louder than mine and i have awe track edition cat back with link pipes (secondary cat delete). His system still has the crushed part of the exhaust before the axel too. Don't ask me how but its loud AF and it sounds really really good. No rasp. Just a mean loud rumble and growl. I should have gone that route and saved myself $800 lol

Did he go with the Race Series (no mufflers or valves) or the Competition Series (mufflers and valves)?

No muffler or valves. They are the ones here.

Mine has awesome sound from the components you don't want, so it's irrelevant

OP, it's a lot easier to make fun noise with a manual than with the auto. It's literally the only thing that bugged me about my A10 ZL1 before I sold it. I had Corsa Xtreme+ and it was beautifully loud on partial or full throttle, cold start, revs etc. but you do not get the hard decel ability so it doesn't pop. Letting off the gas, in gear, in manual, with the A10 to decel does not burble and pop like an M6 car will. I've driven both back to back. Also, due to the nature of the car, you cannot "aggressively" accelerate while not going speed limit shattering speeds in the A10 because it shifts right now and keep going. With a manual you can wind out a gear a little bit at say 75% throttle, shift slowly and kinda roll into the next gear. It sounds awesome but you aren't doing 120 MPH. With the A10 you either have to let off or get a lawyer.

I would get the Borla X-Pipe with secondary cat deletion. They make one. May have to call them to get it ala carte though. That'll add a little volume and a little more pop.

My thoughts exactly.

The sound is out there.... you just have to find it.

I understand the A10 won't burble and pop on decel as much, but if you put it in manual mode, can't you hold gears while accelerating kind of the same way as in a manual?

You can tune for those silly burbles and popping if you want.

Thanks everyone…appreciate the inputs. Don’t want to do headers and tune for warranty right now. I think I’ll look into the magnaflow option…
