ZL1 1LE oem Rotor Replacement

I am getting some cracks on my 1LE rotors. I've probably done 20 track days on them with OEM pads. I am shipping my car for a two-day event at Sebring in December and am wondering whether I should replace the rotors beforehand? Were I driving at my local track (Road Atlanta), I wouldn't probably think about it much, but I don't want a brake issue after going through the expense for the Sebring event. Thoughts? Also, could someone confirm that this is the GM OEM part number for replacement rotors (84271643)? I want to be sure to get the direct OEM replacement if/when I do get new rotors. Here's a link to an OEM GM parts page where I found the rotors https://www.gmpartsdirect.com/oem-pa...rotor-84271643. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Crazy. I'm pretty sure that's the right part number and a non 1LE and 1LE ZL1 use the same brake setup.

If you still have a warranty, I'd take it on to see if the dealership would replace it under warranty.

those cracks are nothing keep going with them for a while. if they extend to the edge then you need to replace. obviously, if they're larger or gaping then replace.

OP, your rotors look fine, and I would drive on them with confidence at Sebring. This heat checking you see is normal for rotors that have been tracked. The rule of thumb to know when to replace them is when the cracks either (1) reach the edge of the rotor or (2) become deep enough to catch a fingernail (i.e. develop from heat checking into actual cracks).

Personally, I bring a spare pair of front rotors to each event with me just in case they give me issues. Swapping them trackside is pretty quick and easy to do, and although they're heavy they don't take up too much room in the trunk. If you think you might be worrying about your rotor wear while you're driving at Sebring, it may be worth it for you to do the same just for the peace of mind. But I really don't think you need to swap them out now.

Thanks Casualguy. I wasn’t worried about them imminently, but I might as well get a set and bring them along to my upcoming track events (I’ll be doing. Are we Motorsports Park before Sebring). Might you please confirm that this is the correct GM part #? 84271643

You probably still have tons of life left in those rotors using stock pads. I have added about 20 more track days on stock pads (and StopTech pads with characteristics similar to stock pads) to these heat checked SS 1LE rotors over the last 2 years since the picture was taken and surprisingly they still haven't cracked to an edge yet but I have had spare rotors on hand for a while just in case.

The previous owner likely used a high torque pad that originally caused the heat checks in my case.

I agree with what has been stated above about the rotors having plenty of life for at least a couple more track days. Those cracks are called either "heat checking" or "crazing" and are totally normal for a car that gets tracked. If any of the cracks can easily be caught by running your fingernail over the crack or extend to the rotor edges, it is time to replace them. I just replace my OE rotors each track season, particularly since they are so reasonably priced. I have been using the Hawk DTC-70 pads front and rear along with the OE rotors front and rear with very good success.
