No increase in noise, no rattles. The upper aluminum post, with threads for the knob, fit very snug onto the lower shift post, I used liquid soap. I also liked the 2 small screws, with rubber isolators for the cap screw heads, that attach the upper post to lower. For those who may be concerned about the amount of work to install, they may want to have a shop do it for them. I think it's definitely worth it. Going into 1st is a little tight, but going into 2nd is a dream, so much shorter and solid click in. Going forward into 3rd goes right in, and all the rest are good. Even reverse is much better. Unexpectedly, I held onto 2nd for an oh s... handle and it was great, very rigid, no play.

Quick question, does this retain the active rev match?

Of course. Rev Match is software based. The shifter is purely mechanical.

Mine is in and it is amazing. The increase in effort is not even noticeable, and the throws are short and very positive. The shifter itself is a work of art, a substantial improvement over the original design! In fact it is even lighter. The factory knob weighs a ton. Must be lead-filled.

Unfortunately the install is a bit involved mostly due to the difficulty in dealing with the pins and clips. Smaller handed mechanics will do better but I got it with my gorilla paws.

Anyone in the Austin area that needs help with the install is welcome to drive out to Liberty Hill and I'll help them out on my lift. PM me. Bet I could do it again in an hour.

...you actually want a heavy/weighted shift knob. This is why many places sell weighted knobs...gives a more positive throw.

Glad to hear the shifter is an improvement though.

I got a new knob from EPCO for my Hurst shifter. I got 2010 SS embedment, 2-1/8" dia. ball, with 9/16-18 threads, the insert is brass, and the knob is good quality, only 2 or 3 weeks for custom order.

I want one but I cannot decide between the ball and pistol grip, I had the ball on the 5th gen, never used a pistol grip.

Anyone have feedback on the ball knob vs pistol grip?

i had Hurst shifters in all my manual trany cars.
and would like to replace the Camaro shifter
but this is really a big job, i would have to accomplish this under jack stands.
might take me a week.

cant believe you have to drop so many parts to reach the shifter, ill wait until the spring.
