engine swap accomplished.

this guy did a v6 to v8 swap, and im doing it next to my car. my engine went out in my 2010 v6. this is the 2nd time it happened. i had a warranty the first time, its on me now. I considered buying another llt engine, but i would have the same problems again,(no oil, GM swapped to lfx engine) for $4400. he said he spent like 6800 on the swap, 4k of which was motor and trans. I can find a cheap ls based engine at a much cheaper price. there is another forum member here, named dru. he has done this swap as well. im excited about it.

The biggest p.i.a. is probably the electronics. Too many sensors, wiring harnesses, and the cpu. Do they both use the same rear end?

Most who did this attempt had a major PITA being the whole thing needs computer etc etc, but you just do what you gotta do, me I would just trade up as its not like a old chevy you cant just change the rear afterwards upgrading the trans and engine. First couple of attempts ran into roadblocks and they are buried in the vault somewhere and took forever and a day and just kind of forgot about them. SO this guy may be one of the guys from years ago EH?......LOL Sure yes remember this one more recent...yup in August he was trying to make a wiring harness adapter, wonder when he will change out all the brakes...? The other things the whole wiring harness with BCM and PCM and etc etc that have to be covered and then.....The thing is yup it fits...... four months later he is driving it versus were it a old chevy : four hours later he is driving it and nothing left to iron out practically compared. Just a thought...

What the heck are you doing to your car to ruin not one, but two, engines?

Do you race it regularly?

Na it's a factory defect. I've read about a lot of people having issues with the llt burning thru oil. Gm switched to lfx instead of doing recall. I suppose I coulda checked my oil. But who expects a relatively new car to be out of oil?

LS3 was replaced with the LT1... doesn't mean there was a defect.

The LFX replaced the LLT, which replaced the LY7. Although not perfect, they seem to be overall great engines.

Only way to try this would be to get a wrecked v8 car... and transfer everything over (including the cluster). But you'll still end up with a car that still has issues... and resale value will be horrible.

I would buy a cheap used engine... slap it in and sell your car. Then buy a used v8 car.

Do we see a lot of V-6 owners on the board burning up their engines due to this so called "defect"?
And just what is the defect? And don't say it burns oil.
Tell me exactly what is making it burn oil.
