No worries brother, I was just having a little fun. Glad to hear that my video is helping people out. It really isn’t a hard task but it’ll take a solid couple of hours.

Got my catch can today and it didn't include the two part bracket to mount it near the radiator. I have sent them an E-Mail and waiting for a response. At least I will start the install over the weekend.

Installing catch can questions

FWIW, when I installed my diverter valve and realized the clearance problem and came up with the grinding of the brass fitting to clear, I posted the process in a thread. Elite Engineering chimed in and said that they were going to tap the aluminum diverter valve deeper to allow the 45* brass fitting to mount deeper into the valve to provide clearance so you don’t have to grind the end of the barb to help with the clearance. You might first verify if you received their new design before you cut/grind your fitting, assuming they followed through with this change.

Can anyone confirm whether or not Elite Engineering revised the valve to fix this problem?

This was quite a few months ago.

Any reason a 90degree fitting on the PCV adapter won’t work, or a 90 with a 1/16 pipe female and a fitting. I have my can for the ZL1-1le have not installed it yet, it’s winter so now is the time

^^This.^^

The fitting clearance issue along with the radiator mounting bracket uncertainty, are the reason that I have not purchased/installed yet. I'm waiting for EE to confirm the changes.

FWIW I am a HUGE advocate of a CC in a GDI/FI application...and a fan of the EE can.

I have never dealt with Elite Engineering prior to this. Before I bought the catch can I sent them a private message on here and the first reply came pretty quickly.

I followed up with a second question and they never answered. I continued to do my research while I waited for a reply (which never came). I went ahead and ordered the can from their website and included a note in the order specifying that I wanted the bracket to mount to install the CC near the radiator on the Zl1 (like they asked us to do on their post). The note also said that if the bracket wasn’t available, I did not want to go through with my order. I didn’t get a response to that either.

A shipping label for FedEx was created by them on Wednesday, but there has been no further activity on the shipping, it is now 4 days after the shipping label was created.

Elite seems to be missing in action. I hope whenever my Can gets here that it comes with the proper bracket and that they addressed this diverter valave issue.

Something tells me this is not going to be the case. Let’s see what happens.

The bracket to install near the radiator is not a two piece se up. It is a single L-shaped/bent bracket. Post a picture of what you got I’d you can.

Also, let us know if the diverter valve has clearance without having to grind it.

Elite Catch Can

Yes, I had the grind down the brass 45* elbow fitting, very, very tight fit! Here is a pic of the bracket I received and I have also sent them an E-Mail about a new bracket to amount the can near the radiator, waiting for a response.

For those who have mounted the can near the radiator can you post a pic of exactly where and how (modified bracket)?

No way a 90* fitting will work due to the clearance issue, the 45* fitting just barley works after grinding it down. Very, very tight fit!

Your L bracket looks different than the one in the pictures Elite Engineerig posted on the previous page of this thread. I guess they didn’t address that clearance issue with the diverter valve.

I have zero confidence that I am getting the correct bracket to mount near the radiator. I’m surprised Elite is nowhere to be found. I thought they were a legit operation.

Do you have pictures of how much you had to grind the brass fitting ?
