Brakes

Buying new brake pads for my 2016 2ss camaro and can't figure out if I have 4 or 6 piston brembro calipers. I've looked at pictures and I think they are 4, I bought car used and don't have original dealership paperwork. Was 6 a option for the 2ss? I'm looking at power stop z23, my car is mostly daily driver so want less squeaks and low dust. Thanks

95% they are 4 piston but 6 was available I believe.

Look in your trunk under the floor, there should be a silver decal with all the RPO codes. These are the components installed on your car. The RPO for 4 piston Brembos is J6G. If you find that code you have the standard 4 piston version.

So thank you for telling me to check my trunk, going my Manuel's and in there was a copy of the window sticker that said 4 piston front And rear. Lol, so this time wasted and the answer was in the trunk lol

Having you check the window sticker / service parts label in the trunk is a good idea; plus, just in case the original owner upgraded the brakes after the purchase, you only have the 6 piston upgrade on the car if your front calipers and rotors look like this:

Yeah I looked at lots of pictures and of course the humps of the pistons are covered by the rim, but I was able to feel them and confirm only 2 humps, not 3. I'm calling autpzone tomorrow to see if they have in store, if not ordering online And then bringing to shop for install

You might consider doing these yourself. Probably the easiest brake job there is! Unless you need to turn or replace the rotors, the caliper does not need to be removed or "split" (splitting it makes a lot more work, and a mess). Remove wheel. Remove two cross-pins and the pads slide out of the "pocket". Remove one pad and use two small c-clamps to compress the pistons so a new pad will fit (use a piece of wood to protect the outside face from the clamp foot). Replace with new pad. Remove the other pad and repeat above. Replace spring-plate and pins and you're done.
There's probably a YouTube about it (I haven't looked).
Tools required:
Lug wrench
floor jack
small drift punch and a small hammer
two small c-clamps
needle nose pliers and/or regular pliers
