Here is a good blog post on an autocrossing FS 1LE if you want some suggested mods: http://www.apexjunky.com/featured/ga...eptember-2015/

This 1LE has these mods so far:
  • HPS+ Hawk performance brakes
  • Eibach adjustable rear sway bar
  • 305/35/20 Hankook RS-3s

Wheels
This is the third most common modification. Be careful about using any Camaro wheel's specs to determine what specs are legal on your car. You can only base your legal wheel specs on wheels that you could have ordered from the factory. For instance SS cars without the 1LE package cannot use 1LE wheel specs. The loophole is completely retrofitting the car with the whole 1LE package (shocks, sway bars, gear changes, etc.) as if the car came from the factory with the 1LE package.
I verified this with Mr. Gill today. I knew what his answer was going to be, but asked anyways because I had another question... so, a non-1LE to 1LE conversion would need everything except the dampers and one of the 1LE sway bars. The gears in the tranny would need to match a 1LE and of course the 3.91 ass. Things like the hood wrap and red brembos are cosmetic, so they can remain as is. I can't imagine anyone ever wanting to do this.

I asked him what chevy means when they write "... scca approved..." on the 1LE suspension package description on their online catalog. He said it means nothing. I suppose it's like saying pepsi approves of people drinking liquid.

My real question was about using 9" wide wheels in the front... and, no, they have to be 8".

also contacted Koni. The yellows are not out yet. I ordered a front set to see what would happen and was told that they are on a 4 week back-order... whatever that means. So I cancelled the order, no harm done.

A 4-week wait in the winter (Philly region) doesn't sound like much of a hardship - I don't see any autocrosses at all on autox4u's calendar. There is a track day at NJMP this Saturday, but you wouldn't have been able to get the Konis in time for that anyway.

Yep.
Everything i read told me there were none to be had. I just like going to the source to eliminate any residual BS. Who would have thought the model would be out of production before a koni yellow is available...

Plus i need every bit of these 3-4 months to get a plan and get everything installed... im slow

Quick discussion on wheels for 1LE. I couldn't find light, aftermarket wheels optimum for the 1LE (Front: 19" x 10" +16, Rear: 19" x 11" +36; 1" smaller diameter & 7mm offset out on each corner from the stock 1LE wheels; David's setup). Pretty much have to get custom wheels.

Did some searching seems like Forgestars are the most affordable custom wheels. David used the CF5V which are the lightest in the Forgestar lineup. Although David did have issues with his wheels bending laterally.

I think I saw another 1LE on the forum running Forgestar CF5 in red. I've been looking closely at the F14 myself. Seems like they do fine on the track.

Any other suggestions?

These might work, you can choose offset and sizes, I think prices are pretty close to Forgestars.

Thanks! Reached out to a sponsor that sold those and they can't do the front to our spec (ET16 vs ET19). Not a huge deal for 3mm. And they are a couple hundred more than Forgestars. Almost definitely lighter though.

Going to my first AX in the 1LE this coming Sunday. It might be raining.

I'll have my tire pyrometer to play with. Any tire pressure recommendations to start with? This with the stock wheels & stock tires.

I will be there also, I hope isn't raining too much.

I think I've read something like 28-32 psi cold starting pressures.
