Under body X frame

I wonder how much the steel cross brace frame under the convertible weighs, probably around 125#. There for I was also wondering if that frame could be duplicated in aluminium. The weight savings would be substantial I'm sure.

I kick myself for not weighing it when I took it off to do my CF DS this winter. I honestly do not think it weighs quite that much though. It was more awkward than heavy from what I remember. So maybe in the 40# range?? I know members have taken it off for weight reduction while running on the drag strip. Also in this thread below FdeleonZ28 states he has driven for years without it. But IDK if I'd go that route while DD it, but as for the drag strip, yes!

As far as aluminum, I'd be curious what an engineer might say about it.
