Car pulls to left/right on hit..and other issue
edit(should not read on hit should read from roll) I thought it was in my head at first , but my Z def pulls mostly to the left, but sometimes to the right when i floor it from a roll (about 45-50mph and below). Also on aggressive braking, I find the car seems a little unsettled for a sec before Im back at full confidence. Just wandering if anyone else have felt this, and if there is a fix for the first issue, and if the DSC solution would cure the latter issue?
Thanks! Last edited by soceur77; 08-11-2017 at 09:04 AM. |

hmm...I think I've noticed this myself, even took it to the dealer for an alignment.

There have been a trio of issues guys have experienced and gotten fixed. This is all off the top of my head but will require a search.
One is wiring harness to steering coming loose or shorting. Gives steering loss and is an oh shit on the track. Second was sway bars or something? Under-tightened at the factory. Causes car to be unstable and loose. Third is the low speed clicking sound. Forgot what that was. These should all be stickied in one thread with the solutions. JMHO.

If you’re experiencing a “swaying” feeling at full throttle, I have that feeling as well. It is not a traction issue. Also wondering if it’s related to the sway bars.

Yea I could label it a swaying motion at times, the other times its like an deliberate jerk however slight to the left of right....def not loss of traction.

The issues concerns me with regard to participating in the Texas Mile later this year where I'll be in the 170 mph range.

I've felt it under hard acceleration....I just thought it was the car fighting for traction on the tail end.

A couple of things when it comes to this deal. It could be just 1 thing or a few.
1: It's a 650hp/tq vehicle. It will pull left or/and right when you WoT even from a roll. It just depends how much sway we are talking about. 2: Does it pull on any direction on a straight road and just steady speed (like cruise control on @ 40 mph or highway speeds of 65/70/75)? If it is, most likely alignment issue which can happen even because of transporting the vehicle on a semi or hitting a small pothole. I like testing this on slow speeds, like 30 mph purely because the wind speed at 30 vs 70 is just too much and wind can be a massive factor to pull a vehicle unless you have the wind 100% behind you which is almost impossible lol. 3: Hard braking will cause pulling to either direction, completely normal. When braking, soft, do you feel a shake from the front brakes and/or steering wheel? Could be warped rotors (common issue with c7s even without tracking the car for example, warranty work due to having a brand spanking new vehicle and shouldn't be warping this fast). 4: Check or have checked all toe links, sway bar connections (bushings especially), rotor surfaces with degrees to see if warped or damaged in anyway and they can also check the steering rack for possible movement or damage to eliminate any suspension related deal. |

Back to the top with this. Has BMR been able to fix this issue with thier bushing kits? Im wondering if this is suspension deflection. This happens in the Gen 3 CTS Vs. The more power you have the worse it becomes. Something is not right.

You need NEW tires, many threads on this. Ask Ted Jannetty about it.

possibly a common problem.... The rear OEM cradle bushing are defective and inadequate on the ZL1. Solution is to upgrade to ZL1 1LE solid rear cradle bushings...

Im going to call BMR tomorrow and see what they have to say. I have never dealt with them and hopefully they have real data and just aren't looking to sell parts. Its a logical reason that there is too much suspension deflection coming from the stock bushings. |
