Aftermarket exhaust guys...any regrets?
I really do love the sound of the stock performance exhaust, but I want a louder, deeper tone in my 1LE (leaving the 16 2ss alone since my wife is daily'ing it at the moment). I feel stupid, however, replacing the performance exhaust with something like the MBRP axleback just to get that improved sound. I won't have the touring option anymore to quiet it if I change my mind, or need to take a client out, or something like that...
I also can't see spending $1600 on the borla with NPP to keep the switching to quiet option. That's a huge chunk of change on a non-performance mod. So my question is for those who have ditched their stock perf. exhaust setups for aftermarket ones - any regrets? Would you do it again? Would you do it differently? Let's hear it

I’ve been in the same boat wanted a deeper rumble but $1800 for a axle back exhaust is insane!!! So I took it to the muffler shop and deleted the Secondary Cats and for $100 I got the sound I was looking for, atleast till I get headers on in the future...
Good luck

Kooks has a system my ZL1 is over at R&D for new exhaust and headers.. if anything put headers on first then switch. I went with the MBRP Cat back with no headers and oh it was loud but not to loud. But for under 700.00 can’t beat it.... Sounds amazing over Stock, but no quite mode. My ZL1 has 4 settings from stealth to Track... I don’t want to loose the stealth or touring, Sport settings to Track as well wide open... I will let you know in a few weeks as estimate was 3 weeks because holiday.

I kept the stock NPP and put in the Borla 60606 mid pipe (<$600) that removed the secondary cats. Primary cats are still in place. Tone changed, a little deeper. More crackles and pops. What I notice most is under WOT. It is the sound I was looking for. I had thoughts of spending money on an axle back before and glad I didn't.

I have no regrets. Kooks LT w/offroad connection pipes, Borla 60606 & 11294.

I spent a small fortune on making a complete Corsa system. In hind sight, I probably would have left the OEM system. It really does sound damn good.

Thanks for the input so far, guys - there are so many options not just on brands, but on ways to configure everything! The headers, the cats, the secondary cats, the mufflers...jeez...

I currently have Screamer Exhaust from QTP. It is basically a switch between muffler delete or closer to stock npp sound. I had to get it because my wife does not like loud cars when shes in it. I am moderately satisfied. The Sound is fairly loud and aggressive when opened up. But there is quite a bit of drone in highway speed. I am looking to add J pipe to reduce drone and remove the secondary cat next week.

NO regrets with MBRP race catback, My only thing was I WANT LOUD, if I could get an exhaust that could wake up the whole state I would lol, So I went with kook 2" off road connectors and MBRP race and that did the trick. I'm now cammed so it sounds amazing, but truly no regrets, for the price of MBRP It was definitely worth the buy.

Maybe just the mbrp catback with the secondary cat deletes would be pretty loud with the stock manifolds

I keep waiting for post #104 to happen... I think it's all guys like us are looking for but may have to go so far as 60606- even though I think it's more than I want to spend or live with!
