Radar detector mounting.

I have 2021 zl1 with the rear view mirror screen, can you still mount radar below mirror and hard wire into it, I was able to with my 2017ss.

Some say just jam 2 pins in the existing connector but I'm afraid of fire so I used this. It's a pigtail that plugs into a overhead console connector that uses the circuit for the pass airbag light. You can also get it with 2 extra wires for a dash cam.

Yes, I mounted the Smartcord on the right-side of the console and ran the power cord to the BCM power lead and the detector cable under the carpet, up the pillar and under the headliner over to the right-side of the detector. The detector is mounted immediately left of the camera.

Yeah, The flash went off and I was filmed doing about 220 in a 90...... That's about 5000 Baht (150 bucks) ticket. Fortunately, my car still isn't registered. I still have the temp plates, so they couldn't trace me.... I didn't know this at the time. But I need to have a detector for all the stationary mounted cameras on the toll road. Soon, I'll have my normal plate and there won't be anymore freebees.

I have a 2020 and I could not get anything to work pinning into the back of the mirror. The connectors look totally different from the 2018 or whatever example I saw using the back of the mirror.
I found this online and this is the route I'm going to go:

I couldn’t get anything to work in the overhead on my 2019. Got so frustrated that I ended hiding a wire all the way from the center console charge port to my detector at the top of the windshield.

Are radar detectors legal in Thailand, though? Also, your car doesn't exactly blend in, and if they went to the trouble of deploying a camera system, I don't understand how they couldn't trace it.

You know, I would think so. This is a government that will toss you in the clink for verbally busting out the king's behavior (true and false). However, I do see them on Lazada (an online buying platform). And they have the good ones, cobra, uniden's R1. They are 500+ bucks. But I fear they'll let you buy, but when it's time to receive it, it has been tampered or you won't get it. Better to bring it from the states. Still, if I got a working one here, I'd try to hide it in a place that's not visible, when you have to stop at a check point and the police look in the car. One cannot play the cat and mouse games here that one can play in the states. There is no "due process" and the constitution for protection.

I see, not much different than where I'm originally from, the police could stop you for no reason whatsoever (it's called "routine compliance check"), the burden of proof was on you, and if you decided to go to court, it's basically your word against theirs. Likely still the same way today.

So how about an integrated radar detector? Those are the only truly (nearly) invisible solutions. No matter where you install a portable one like the R1/R3 or the Escort, it's going to be very visible, or useless because it won't have enough range if you hide it behind any panel or component... An integrated one is much more expensive, but I have the impression you would consider it nevertheless.

You just splice into the Accessories lead on the BCM for power. Detector powers up with the accessories.

Please explain more about this. Give me some examples please. Then I’ll use google to research. I’d google first, but with my luck, I’d research the wrong style and not know it, LOL

A lot of high end vehicles install these K40 systems. They have sensors installed in the front grill and rear of the car and have a small display in the dash. I actually ran across a ZL1 in their gallery. These aren't cheap, but they are probably the most concealed system you can get for radar.

https://k40.com/installation_gallery...n-performance/

If they use laser where you live, AL Priority make some pretty nice concealed laser detector jamming equipment also. I have a few friends that have these systems. Obviously, I'm not sure you'd have any installers over in Thailand.
