More HP?

What else can I add to increase my hp? I currently have a tsp vvt3 cam, LT headers, CAI and borla axle back. Not looking to go crazy high but some where in the 600-700 range would be great

Ported LT1 intake manifold or LT2 intake manifold.

I don't think 600-700 whp is possible without forced induction. If you're not opposed to that, plenty of great choices out there, Magnuson, Whipple, Edelbrock, Procharger...

I was thinking of getting a procharger but I was told I would have to change my cam due to a loss of boost and idk how I feel about that since I love the way it sounds

600+ na is going to take more compression, a set of aftermarket heads, bigger cam than what you have and more than likely have it stroked to reach the upper end of 600hp possibly 700. Just take a look at Katech's setups or some of Prays more serious builds.

While it certainly won't get you all the way to your goal, e85 should certainly be a part of the equation.

If you are chasing HP numbers going FI is the most cost effective method to get there. Don’t know your cam specs but a FI engine needs to have a FI specific cam for maximum efficiency and drivability.

How do we get more compression with FI? We can only mill stock heads (and any aftermarket head I can find) about .015, that's only a couple CC's. (fuel injector hole clearance) I think there are going to be other clearance problems with decking the block. I know we don't want to mess with the LT1 pistons because of the DI and combustion chamber. I don't see any other options?

I’m not really tryna change my cam since I’m getting it installed right now. Maybe some time in the future but I seen some setups that’s running the D1x procharger and vvt3 cam. I’m thinking about getting that but I’m stuck doing research on meth injection, e85, fuel pumps and injectors, and pulleys. If I’m not mistaken I’ve read a few post that says if I don’t use meth injection then my engine(LT1) won’t last long being that 700hp is around the limit that engine can take stock and the meth compliments the boost. But if that’s true the D1 alone should add around 150+ hp. All those upgrades would put me at around 700. Correct me if I’m wrong but would that setup last on my engine? And if not how long would it last? And if it would last then what would be needed to support that; D1x, meth injection, fuel upgrades, e85 and pulleys? I know it’s a lot but I’m new to this and trying to get the best understanding of all these car modifications and the do’s and don’t

If you're not doing any fuel upgrades your tuner better be spot on even with meth. Honestly your best bet would have been to build your bottom end while your doing your cam and save yourself down time and labor cost since you're wanting to put down 700+.

Guys running that VVT-3 with a D1x mimics what I said in your other thread. That cam can work with FI but you really need the bigger supercharger for it all to work efficiently. Cam overlap bleeds off boost...you don't want that with a small supercharger because you have to pulley it down to get the boost back up. The efficiency range for a P1sc is peak around 8psi on a Stock LT1. Now install the VVT-3 and boost might drop to 4-5psi so now you need more blower speed(rpm) to get boost back up. It can be spun harder but then it starts to lose efficiency and pump out more heat. A D1 should work fine with that setup. Also if I was tearing into a LT1 to cam it with the intentions of going FI down the road, I would be doing rods/pistons while it's apart. You will save yourself a ton of labor down the road.

Fueling isn't that hard to figure out since we have discussed it in several threads over in the FI section. LT4 fuel system and Meth will support 800whp on E85. If you don't want to run meth and fuel DI only then you will need FIC +30 injectors, LPE DI pump, DSX or Cordes aux low side. Or leave your stock fuel system in place and go Crawford Port Injection. Those are 3 options for fueling a GEN 5 engine with boost and Ethanol fuels. I highly suggest using E85 or a blend of(E60) over pump gas. These engines crave octane.

Ported/milled heads, MSD IM or HiRam if you're willing to cut the hood, and e85. Then get it tuned by one of the good gen 5 LT tuners.
