RX catch can, not working?

I just went to change my oil, and drain the catch can. About 2 drops of oil came out, had anyone else experienced this? Am I lucky because my car doesn't suck much oil, or stupid because I have it installed wrong? Any thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks

check to make sure the hoses are going to the right parts of the engine, that was my only mistake. my first oil change had about 1/8" of liquid in it

I think it is correct. The top center goes to the back of the driver side, and the outer connects just under the throttle body.

There's been a few people who had the incorrect routing of their hoses for thousands of miles and finally figured out it was configured wrong.

Well I just went back out and apparently everything is fine. I expected it to flee much freer and sooner,I ably waited about 4 minutes originally. After leaving it draining for about 30 minutes, there is this brown sludge.

So now what do you guys do about the sludge still in the hose when you close the valve? I don't want that "spraying" the undercarriage while I drive.

Personally I took the hose off as I didn't like the way it looked. Plus its easier for me to reach under the can and catch the oil than it is to put the hose into something and open the can.

How many miles are we talking about here? If it's less then 1k then I wouldn't worry about it as your can shouldn't have much. If it's 4-5k or more then something is wrong.

Wish I could help you there, but I have an Elite Catch can, which screws off for an easy dump during oil changes. I would say try to find a long Q tip swab and run it through the tube to catch any residue left over from draining.

Center of the can on a V8 runs to the rear of the drivers side valve cover (L99), or to the valley cover vent (LS3) below the TB. Outer valve runs to the vacuum barb on the passenger side of the intake manifold snout:

If you dont like the drain hose, just cut it off so only an inch or so is left. The hose is long so it can be either hung down beneath the car to drain when oil is changed, or cut to any length the customer desires.
