Converting Wiper Fluid System to Water Injection
With the AC line being so close to the airbox and the way the windshield washer fluid is plumped, everything looks really easy to convert over.
Now I know with the low flow of the stock washer fluid tank, you probably couldn't achieve a significant effect. Has anyone rigged up a heat exchanger that coupled with the AC lines and teed off the stock windshield fluid lines? As close as they are you should be able to keep the washer fluid cold and then inject it right into the housing or airbox with minimal pluming and materials to buy. I know there are kits for this, but for low budget experimentation it seems like there is potential. Only thing is I think some of the Camaros are missing low washer fluid sensors, and if you didn't do extra wiring for control you would be limited to controlling it yourself buy twisting the washer fluid control on the steering column. So with cars already coming with washer fluid tanks and pumps, why don't you see more people rigging theres up and repurposing for washer fluid injection? Which brings me to another question, is why no OEM's haven't implemented water injection? I realize there may be impringement issues spraying pre compressor in FI applications though. I actually thought I read where Porsche had it in the new 911 turbo? |

I believe the new BMW M4 GTS comes with an OEM Bosch water injection system.
I will eventually have a methanol injection system in my Camaro and use the stock washer fluid reservoir as my tank. And use "turbo washer fluid". It's affordable dual purpose fluid

I run the AEM kit and use the washer fluid tank for mine. I don't drive mine in the rain so no big deal.

The AEM kit has a separate pump I believe. I almost think a small controlled shot of nitrous inside the airbox might lower IATs enough to be significant. I just wonder how little you could get away with, and how little you would need to not have to worry about supplementing extra fuel and making the bottle last enough time to where it wouldn't be annoying having to fill it up all the time.
