Why do people install them?

For a low torque vehicle it makes sense. My brother has one installed on his golf r it only makes the throttle more responsive. Is there any power gain to it!!?

No power gain. Why do people install them? You answered that question with “makes the throttle more responsive.”

It is hard to describe the benefit to someone when you tell them that it makes no power. But if you tried one on our car/engine you would understand instantly. It changes the feel of the throttle immensely. Not everyone likes them, but most people that have them keep them. Since they are adjustable it helps to be able to tailor them to your driving style. I keep mine on SP6 (Scale is SP0-SP9 on the Vitesse). There is also an 'Eco' setting/scale, which is cool as a valet or mechanic/shop mode.

I took mine off once for a couple hours but I put it back on immediately as it made my car 'feel' sluggish. But I know I would get used to it without it just like I did to having it installed. I just prefer the car with it.

The way I described the throttle controller to my son was 'It's as if the car did a couple lines of cocaine, but without the massive debt, hookers, and insomnia'.

what InFiD3ViL said.
it was nice in my ls3 car on SP7,but in the l99 it has a much more pronounced effect SP4 or SP5 is good maybe SP6. after using it on 2 cars i think the auto benefits more from it. i got mine here used for 80 bucks shipped at the time there were 3 for sale in the FS section, it is hands down the best 80 dollar mod EVER!

Don’t leave out JMS. The main difference is it uses a knob vice push button. This way you don’t have to settle for level 1,2,3,... it can be anything between whole number levels. For example: if you are on level 6 but want a bit more and 7 is just too aggressive, a knob will let you dial anything between the two.

Edit: JMS does not use levels. It just makes the blade respond 0 - 100% faster.

I had the Vitesse controller for several years. The unit failed multiple times last fall, even with re-setting parameters several times so I removed it. Went with the Sprint Booster. Have not had any Reduced Power issues with the Sprint since installing it. I actually think it is a step faster than the Vitesse.
