I was considering a 1LE and an LT1. I ended up buying the LT1.
My thoughts were, the 1LT was about $3,000 less than the 1SS, and the 1LE package adds $7,000 right out of the gate. The main issue is that most of the 1LE spec cars were sitting at $50,000 or more. I ended up getting my 2020 LT1 A10 car for about $36,500 after rebates and GM Supplier Pricing. I figured for $2,500 I can add a 1LE set of wheels/tires, and still have my 245 all seasons. Add the GM suspension kit and swaybar kit for $1,500, and have a car that handles nearly the same as the 1LE car. Correct, I don't have a eLSD, or the extra oil cooler, but for me, those items were not the best very relevant for me. I don't plan to track the car full time, and I'm not a very serious racer. If you are buying the car to track and want to go as fast as you can, the 1LE is a bargain for what you get. The LT1 is a great choice if you want a street car that might see a HPDE track day or two.
I may track my LT1 but if I do it will be maybe once a year. I don't expect to push it 10/10ths and know that there are limitations. I've tracked a number of 'street' cars and actually find it fun in a way because you can approach the lower limits easier. And an LT1 is still a very capable, fast car. HPDE is not a race, and there is always somebody faster - often in a machine that costs substantially less. |

Yes but the SS has all of the same cooling as the 1LE where the LT1 does not. Quote:

How much weight is added for the 1LE coolers, diff, etc? The 1LE is likely significantly heavier for the added track reliability.

The 1LE is ~60 lbs heavier than the typical SS, most of that is from the ELSD.

THat said it feels way lighter and overall is just so much better in feel. Feels neutral and light and hides its weight well. Resale seems to stick higher for both 5th and 6th gens on the 1le as well after initial drop just noting
