Code P0700
Started up my 2019 Camaro rs v6 this morning to pick my daughter up from work pulled out of the garage in put the car into park and noticed no red light indicator for Park. But on the center dash it said: shift into park. I had this same problem with my 2017 malibu premier but the car is acting differently. Put the car in drive red light indicator came on for ( D ) shift into park went away but then a check engine light came on. On Star told me code P0700. The car is in sport mode but pulls out from a stop like I'm in the snow/ ice mode, almost like limp mode. After this happen I will not take this car above 35mph. Going to the dealership on Wednesday. Wondering if it's the same problem as the malibu had? Or could it be the transmission fluid? 9670 miles on the car and no there is no shutter in the transmission. Any ideas 💡

If you haven't already, contact your dealership. The car is still under the bumper-to-bumper warranty and it really isn't worth messing with as it could potentially be a sensor that detects the position of the shifter, a control module, a bad wire, etc.
One thing that may be problematic is starting the car if it won't detect that it's in park. If that's the case, power the car on so that you can press the brake and shift out of Park to Neutral, then try starting it with it in Neutral. Edit to add: I believe P0700 equates basically to "There's some sort of problem." |

I just went to the garage and the car started right up but you can definitely hear a different sound in the exhaust note. The check engine light is still on, so the car will be getting dropped off Wednesday afternoon at the dealership. Still have full factory warranty. But as I recall on the malibu I believe they replaced the shift control module and did a reflash on the transmission.

P0700 is transmission control module (TCM) malfunction.
It is a pretty generic code, but does point to a transmission problem. Shift solenoid problems can cause this. Since you got a "shift into park" message I'm guessing you've got shifting issues or the tranny is not reporting correct gear to the TCM. And this will put you into limp mode which is why you got reduced performance. |

So I'm wondering if the dealership will just reflash the tcm and clear the codes and hopefully that will resolve the problem. I find it frustrating that this problem still exist from back into 2016 when the new malibu's and 6th generation Camaro first came out. 2019 and 2020 Camaro's are now affected with this problem. By now one would think there would be upgraded parts to stop this problem, but new cars with under 10,000 miles throwing CEL, very frustrating. I feel sorry for the V8 owners that have that very annoying valve spring problem.

I was told that P0700 is a generic code and that code is saying 'hey' something went wrong with the communication between the engine and transmission. More then likely there is another code stored behind it. The dealership pull up another code V0100 which stated some kind of radio interference and loss of communication between engine and transmission. They check wiring harness for loose connections couldn't find any. Clear the codes and CEL couldn't duplicate the problem. Car is running fine for now but I'm to return if the CEL comes back on.

Bob did the code ever come back or is it good? 65,000 miles on my car and this is the only CEL I have ever had:( Friend read the code and deleted it. If it comes back time to take it to the dealer.

So far the car has been running great and the code never came back since the dealership took care of it. But still dealing with not being able to connect my phone using the USB cord to my infotainment system. Every time I connect there is no media sound, and system still refuses to update. Dealership has already replaced the radio and I have already gotten a new phone and still have not resolved this issue. Chevrolet is now involved in this as the Camano is going back again today for this issue.

Well that sucks to hear:( I was reading that an RF interference will make the P0700 code will trigger a CEL. Now that I think of both times mine a had the CEL i tried starting the car with the remote fob when I was far away from the car. Will try not using it for a while and see if it shows up again. The dealership checked the fluid level and turned the CEL off for me for free, so I will see what happens.
