Unhappy After Market Warranty advice...

Hello all.

Several years ago we bought a buick. I purchased the extended warranty for 3 years. Right before that ended I called to ask if i could extend it and I did for an extra 3 for 2500.

Having said all that. My current extended warrant that i purchased for my 2017 camaro is good for 3 years. Which ends in about a year. I called and told them when its time i would like to re-extend the warranty....he said they dont do that....nobody does.

Is that true that nobody does? Is he full of sh*t?

if the above is true....

please recommend me a reliable, no-scam, one that will not break the bank after market warranty?

thx

There is probably a phone number in your current extended warranty paperwork to contact their main office. You might try calling them directly to see what options they offer. There are a number of companies that offer extended car warranties. Any dealer can sell an extended warranty. If your local dealer isn’t helpful then maybe contact JoeP@TeamBeckyD to see what he can offer you.

I've been a new car dealer service advisor for going on 23 years. I would highly recommend calling a few new car dealers and find someone who will sell you a CNA/Western National extended warranty. They are the best in the business IMO. Absolutely run from CarShield. What a bunch of clowns.

An extra 3 years for $2,500? I usually get the 84/100 or 125k warranty for around $1,800 on my Raptor and not sure about Camaro since I keep itching to add headers, cam and tune.

Contact PFarnsworth@dennymenholt.com to see what they offer. It is a sales guy from GM dealership that offer $1,760 for 84/100 with $100 deductible. I haven’t purchased as the car has 1k miles and seems solid so far.

I wouldn’t even consider buying an extended warranty because if you read the fine print only certain parts are covered and the others you pay to have replaced.

One thing to consider before you decide to purchase insurance:

Insurance companies attempt to estimate the probability of parts failing and the related cost per vehicle they offer to cover with a policy. Being "for profit" companies, they then price their extended warrantees at a price that is higher than that forecasted cost. Thus odds are that you'll spend more paying for the insurance, deductable, and parts not covered than you will if you do not purchase the extended warrantee and just take your chances.

Of course you have to be able to stomach the (relatively low) risk that a particularly costly event will happen to YOUR vehicle, which is why some people buy the insurance (peace of mind, even if you are over paying).

I've been holding onto this link for awhile in the case that I want to buy an extended warranty in the future.
