Borla 60608 - Can you use it without the Borla X-Pipe/Mid-Pipe setup?

https://www.borla.com/products/camar...rt__60608.html

So now that I have Kooks Long Tube Headers w/ High Flow Cats as well as the Borla S-Type Axle-Back NPP Setup, I want to attenuate a pretty high-volume growl between 2,000 and 4,000 RPM which was not there with just the Borla Axle-Back.

I am wondering if this resonator setup is possible to connect into the stock X-Pipe/Mid-Pipe or if I really need to get the Borla 60606 or 60607 setup. It just feels like a waste of money since the 60608 basically replaces a large portion of the 60606 and 60607 pipes (they don't have a mid-pipe set that incorporates the resonators you end up buying extra pipes for no reason).

Anyone have any thoughts?

Primarily, I am trying to get the progression of sound volume to match the RPM progression to redline like it had with just the Borla axle-back. For instance, it is loud from a get-go then quiets down a bit before picking back up as the RPMs go up. It's very weird and a little disorienting.

I wonder that myself. First the axle backs are 2 and 3/4, the resonator now says 2 and 3/4 on Borla's site! So I guess this is a direct bolt on.

All Borla full exhuast are 3”.

Edited with new information.

I guess worse comes to worse my guys can make it fit...more important is getting those resonators on there to attenuate the sound.

Do a write up, I think there are a whole lot of guys wondering the same thing. My bet is the 2 and 3/4 rears are flared to slip over the factory stuff, so they will also slide into the 3" borla resonators. Or a 3" band clamp will join it all together. Heck my Borla for the 4th gen was held together with all band clamps.

I probably will...worse comes to worse, they can cut the little metal bracket that holds the two resonators next to each other and weld each into the existing pipes.

I'm getting ready to do the same thing, just installed lt header and fti 3600 stall. I already had borla type s axle back, the stall and the LT's makes the 2 to 4k a little raspier then I wanted. It says it works with all x pipes and I'm sure it will. Says it gets the type s to the touring but with the LT's I'm hoping to get back to the type s sound. I cant imagine how loud the atak with LT's are..lol

I'm sure you could cut and weld the resonator in place. Otherwise you could go with the 60607 (xpipe) and the 60608 then go with the Kook's clamp that has a reducer to go from 3" - 2.75" (OEM exhaust)

OK I finally got around to ordering the parts I needed...they'll be getting put in on Friday.

I'll take pics and give out which part # it was. We're just using Magnaflow stuff.

I did axle back to stock pipes, to tsp mid pipes and headers. You'll need saw za, but wasnt to bad. Alot of people re-weld pipe to get rid of the pancake in the exhaust. If you do this, it will be purely cosmetic. Dyno pulls with or without the pancake made absolutely no difference.
