Updated Phone Charger?

My '18 ZL1 phone charger will not fit my Samsung Galaxy 9S (the larger size) due to size--it will not fit in the cradle. And yes, I understand that it would fly out anyway, people do not use this feature, etc.

It appears that for 2019, the charger has been "improved" per the Chev. data. Any idea if:

1. This improvement will accommodate larger phones now; and

2. If so, is this change capable of an easy retrofit for 2018 cars?

Thanks!

My phone fits, but the charger just doesn't work most of the time. Maybe I need to complain to the dealer and see if they can replace my charger, if there is indeed a better one available.

I would use it if you could do wireless Car Play/Android Auto, but it kinda defeats the purpose

The size has not changed. I have a S8 regular version and it charges fine but doesn't fit. We also tried iPhone 10X and it works too.

Still it's just too far back there. Android Auto works Waaaaay better with Infotainment 3. Plug up and never look at the phone again. Just wish it worked this smooth in my daily driver 2018 Silverado

Sounds like they've improved the charging ability then. My S7 will only work if I remove the thin case (which I do not need to remove on my home wireless charger) and reposition the phone several times, sometimes even laying it at a funny angle, before it will start charging. Even after I get it to start, it doesn't always continue charging. I agree that it's not in the best position for use unless you are a back seat passenger. Maybe they can find a way to make room in each door or something for future models.

My charger would not work very reliably, but now i get it to work almost all the time. I wait about 15 seconds after startup before i try it.

My iPhone XS charges fine but doesn't fit perfectly in the cradle. The new infotainment system is much more responsive both to commands and touch than my friends 2015 Z06

GM sells an upgraded wireless charging module for MY 2018 under part number 84526978, it works with many more new phones than the original one. There are several install videos on youtube.

The panel mat remains the same (part 23285289), perhaps it can be cut to fit slightly larger phones safely inside the rubberized edges.
