Supercharger Bolt Torque

I was installing my catch can and when I was torquing the bolts for the supercharger I accidentally tightened them to 99in lb. I know they are supposed to be torqued to 89. My question is will this cause a problem and should I buy all new bolts again and retorque them to 89 inlbs?

my opinion is to leave them alone. The guys that break them gorilla torque them so 10 measly inch pounds is fine.

That was my feeling too. I’m just so damn paranoid about screwing something up.

likely within error range of a small inch pound torque wrench also...you are fine

I just finished this..... If the torque wrench clicked or sounded, and you didn't feel the bolt twisting easier, and the cars running good, LEAVE'EM. And also Stephen is right, it's not like it was 25 foot pounds...

These bolts do not go tight. I reused mine and I was fine. You have to remember, they are just compressing a rubber seal. In the "old" days intake gaskets were not rubber and had to have a higher clamping force to seal. You really don't need much. It can be done with a 1/4" ratchet

I was using a 1/4” torque wrench. I just had it set wrong. There was never a point where the bolts got easier to twist. Since it’s less than a ft lb I’m just going to leave them. They were brand new bolts too.

Do you you all reuse the bolts or replace them after the catch can install?

I'm surprised that the spec'd torque is that high.

The Magnuson bolt torque is 108 inch pounds so 99 shouldn't be an issue for the Lt4.

LOL, yes I know, but even that seems on the higher side to me in aluminum
