Anyone overtemped ZL1 1LE on track? Thinking of buying one (TX)
Thinking about getting a ZL1 1LE. My 17 SS 1LE has been run extensively, most often in Texas heat, up to 110F. It has never overtemped the power steering, diff, trans, coolant, nor engine oil.
Anyone had any issues with a ZL1 1LE, and if so, how long was the session, what track, what ambient, and what limped? Obviously, the ZL1 1LE will put more of a thermal load on the systems than my current car. Appreciate any insight. |

The ZL1 1LE has some of the best cooling in the industry. In August, at Sebring, my needle hardly moved.

I entered mine in the LS Fest Road Course challenge in at NCM in Bowling Green.
It was at least 95 degrees both days. We had 4 30 minute session per day to put down our fastest lap. My car never once got close to over heating. |

My question is about a Zl1 1LE. I’ve run my SS 1LE in 110F tight track 20-30 minute sessions without issue. Would love to see PDR temp data from the other in 100F range weather. Your Avatar has a pic of one vs. your title saying SS...can you show a screenshot of your fluid temps at the end of worst case session? Thanks.

Same question as the OP with an additional tid bit:
Assuming there may be some power loss due to heat soak - is it noticable? Does pace evaporate after 10-15 mins? If so is it mainly due to motor, or tires? I am considering a ZL1, so the same motor... Thanks in advance for any comments from actual ZL1/ZL1 1LE owners who track their cars. Edit: thus far majority of responses i have received suggest no noticeable power loss. But id like to broaden the sample if possible. |

It was ~55 degrees, mostly sunny, short course (TMS infield) with max speeds ~115-120 mph and heavy braking with little time for the brakes to cool off between heavy braking zones. I didn't feel any difference in power throughout the admittedly short 10 minute sessions. I ran the whole event and realized that I had not removed the rain tray, which probably wouldn't have made a difference in this weather.. The tires held up well. I ran R888Rs on my previous car and I think those would have been greasy by the end of these sessions. The GYSC3Rs held up beautifully. Most of the wear was on the outside of the tire, though. I am running -2.7 deg of camber up front and -2.0 in the rear, thinking I need to go to -3.0 or maybe a little more up front. The brakes got a bit squishy (I swapped in Castrol SRF prior to the event), but I attribute that to the nature of the track and still running stock pads. I have two events scheduled in the next month so I'll follow up after those. Overall, amazing machine for track duty! |

Normal ZL1 with A10 Transmission, but oil temps hit around 285 F and stay there for the last 5 minutes of a 20 minute session at Charlotte Motor Speedway (lots of WOT) at 92 F and high humidity. Doesn't validate that you won't have a problem in DFW, but it only hits triple digits a few times during the year. I just moved from DFW.

If you are interested, I can pull up the PDR data on the other temps.

I have a set of the power steering cooler ducts mentioned in the press release for the A10 Zl1 1LE. Will post up pics and info on them soon. Never had a derate of the steering on my SS 1LE even in 30-minute 95 - 110F sessions, but I have seen posts and heard about ZL1’s that did.
