Groan from Gen6 rear end when cold
Each morning when I crank up my Gen6 2SS, I back out of the driveway then once I turn the wheels and step on the gas to pull off. Then a very noticeable "groan" comes from the rear of the car! The sound happens each time I make a turn until the car warms up - then sound goes away.
I want to take it in for service to check it out but once I get to the deanship, it'll be warm and the sound won't be there for them to hear. I have read elsewhere that others have had this same problem. Some have said it is the LSD. Has anyone here had this checked out? If so, what is it and is it something that I should be concerned about?

I did take to dealership for this reason this week. I left it overnight too. They couldn't reproduce it so they won't do anything. I'm going replace diff fluid myself this week to see if it helps.

You are definitely not the first (http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=440272)
I had mine in twice for this reason, first the changed the diff oil, the second time (still in service) they are replacing the carrier. Hopefully the groaning will go away now. like you said, is only when its cold. |

Well, I don't get that sound. But car does not move till it's warmed up, 5.min
My car is picky and sure it's with other camaro's as well. It just does not like a start and go.

Have the same issue. I brought it to my dealer and they could not reproduce it as expected. They offered a loaner if I left it overnight. They won't act on anything that they cannot reproduce.
Will update when I leave it overnight.

Try adding a little GM lsd additive - maybe factory fill didn't have enuf. Should not cause an issue however.

I'm curious too. It has been about 35 degrees now and I notice it at low speed turning.

Mine does the same thing. I think it's a bad diff. Haven't taken it to the dealer yet.

I noticed this too for the first time last week. It just started to cool off here in the mornings. Also heard it again today as I left for work. It was about 50* out.

Best thing to do and i did it a few times. If you have a GoPro. Mount it to something under the back of the car that don't move to much and record it. Might need to do it a few time in different place so you can see were the sound is coming from.

Also have the same problem, seems to go away after the transmission/rear end temp gets up to about 30C... Still have the stock fluid in the diff after 5000km, I have some new fluid to try just haven't gotten around to replacing it yet. (LTG rear end with LSD)
