Non-warranty busting mods

Just curious what I can get away with modding without voiding my warranty. I believe I'm ok with a CAI and an axle back exhaust. That true? What else can I do???

My dealership told me a cold air intake would void the warranty, but that I was good to use a K&N high flow drop in air filter. It supposedly good for almost 5hp according to Lethal Camaro's testing. I doubt a full cold air intake system would do much better than that without a tune anyways.

https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=466087

Other performance mods you could do without voiding the warranty would be...

Weight loss including a rear seat delete kit

Port the throttle body and intake manifold (might void the warranty but its doubtful they would even notice)

CNC machine the cylinder heads (might void the warranty but its doubtful that they would notice)

Cut out the secondary catalytic converters, gut them, put them back (might void the warranty but it's unlikely they would notice)

Lighter weight wheels

R compound tires

More aggressive brake pads

Better brake fluid

Autocross and trackdays. Won't void the warranty and they're a way better value than mods that won't really do anything.

Agreed! My "mod" budget goes to track days and consumables like fluids, tires, and brake pads. My only mod is a dedicated set of lighter wheels and tires. It keeps that warranty shiny and is loads more fun than any bolt on will provide.

Technically they can't void your warranty for anything unless they can prove it affected the broken part for warranty work. So they can't void your warranty for basic bolt ons. If you put an exhaust on they probably won't fix anything else exhaust related. If you put in a cam they will probably void your power train warranty but they still have to fix your power seats and radio. Don't let them tell you any different.

True, but if a dealer decides not to perform warranty work, it can be a time consuming and / or expensive road for the vehicle owner. A dealer can “tell you any different” and it is then up to you to find another dealer with a different opinion, sue the dealer for breach of warranty or just eat the cost yourself. That is the real world. This debate is thrashed about in numerous threads on this forum, but it all comes down to this^^^.
