Except everything he listed was well under 10K lbs...

All good, I'm very familiar with HD Duramax's and the new 6.2s and I am happy not to be paying Duramax maintenance costs or suffering from the rough ride anymore.

The 6.2L is night and day. All around performance, towing, etc.. Towing a 20' speedboat or enclosed (3 motorcycle) trailer across the mountains, is no problem. It never even downshifts.

He's now debating on a '19 or '20 High Country and a 6.2L is all he will buy. Amazing truck!

Still safer in a HD and u can’t beat a hd diesel if you tow frequently and long distances. It is just less fatiguing on the driver

I could argue with you on this, but we would end up agreeing to disagree.

An experienced driver towing a load is safer than the equipment he is using...

I would agree 1000% on this.

That is why some of this towing numbers on HD trucks scares me lol

I tow our camper (28' - 9K lbs), and a 28' enclosed steel frame with my Corvette in it. My 6.2 Denali has no issues with either and knocks down 12mpg while travelling at 70mph. Equalizer hitch is all that is needed.

North of 10,000 lbs, and towing once a week or more, then I'd do HD.
I fail to see where I stated anything about an HD in my comment.

My Dad's truck is a 1/2 ton LTZ with the 6.2L. The HD is either a 3/4 ton or a 1 ton.

I quoted your post as I believed the replies stating an HD is needed were referring to it.

As you know, an HD is not necessary for a 20' boat, enclosed with bikes, etc.

Cool.

I hated the harsh ride of my Duramax, and wasn't a fan of the high initial cost, and higher maintenance costs over my 6.2.

I used my Duramax to tow a heavy (10K+) camper through the mountains, I wouldn't ask my gasser to do that...which is why we own a lighter trailer, and don't take it to the mountains (the fuel costs alone pay for some amazing cabins at the same locations).
