5w30 vs 0w40 - 2022 1LE
Owners manual on my 2022 1LE states I should be using 0w40 dexos 2 oil unless unavailable then 5w30 dexos 1 if street use only.
Any issues with warranty coverage if I opt for 5w30 dexos 1? Car will only be seeing street use. Which 5w30 are you guys going with? Mobil 1 0w40 ESP seems backordered at most places and 5w30 dexos 1 is a lot more available and a lot cheaper.

There are no issues with 5w30 as long as you aren't road coursing the car. Use whatever brand you're comfortable with.

I see Mobil 1 makes a 5w30 esp, has anyone tried it for street use? Looks like a less expensive esp than the 0w40

I'd go one step further and say if you're hard on the car on the street, you might want to go for the 0-40.

You bought yourself a $50,000+ car and you are worried about a $100 oil change (Mobil 1 0W-40 ESP Formula)??? For reference, I do not track my car, I changed my oil at 505 miles, 1,500 miles and 4,000 miles... I have ALWAYS ben able to get Mobil1 0W-40 ESP Formula without issue... also changed my differential fluids at 505 miles and 1,500 miles... Why??? Because it is VERY cheap insurance for a very expensive (to me) investment, so I don't want any issues that I can potentially avoid with some basic maintenance... Pound wise an penny foolish and all that jazz... You do you, but I like the least bit of aggravation in my life, do what the manufacture recommends as a best practice... No need to reinvent the wheel...

Always remember 0w flowability when cold and 40w protection when hot. If you drive hard at all, 0-40 is your best friend and you cannot beat the advantage of instant lubrication when cold if you live in a cooler climate.

Absolutely no issues with warranty other than dealers arguing that your car says 0-40 on the oil cap. I had to show them the owners manual to shut them up. To be honest, I think the engine runs better on 5-30. I changed mine to 0-40 ESP Mobil last week for my track event this past weekend and I immediately noticed it revved slower and sounded more "muffled". I'm only 51 and have been around cars my whole life, but what do I know.
