That information is secret, but I'll write this: 2500 km away from Oslo and 3000 km away from Trondheim.
I hope to meet you next Summer at the European Camaro meeting in Hohenroda, Germany! Quote:

During the hollidays i went in to replace the isolator in the supercharger, as Wilson could tell no work had been done to the supercharger when he owned it.
It was suspicialy clean inside, so a guy from ZL1 exlusive on FB was kind to run a GMvis report on it, and just as i suspected, the supercharger was replaced under waranty in March 20 and has less than 1700 miles on it

Back bolts
How in Blue blazes did you remove the bolts in the back?!?
I had to shave off about 2 mm from the top of the water pump, about 2 mm from the bottom of the snout and had to have the broken-off groove lip welded, but I believe that I now own the only ZL1 in Europe which can have the intake removed without having to remove the supercharger assembly. Then I replaced the isolator coupling with the "Hawk Motorsports" one, which cost $22 USD. Ever since then things have been hunky-dory-happy-go-lucky. I am now waiting for the shock absorbers to start leaking. Once they do and I replace them, all known factory defects should be fixed on my car. It was reported somewhere on this sub-forum that some of the replacement supercharger units have the same flawed isolator coupling in them. Did yours? What is "GMvis"? Post scriptum: I went to the local, official Chevrolet dealer in the country where I live with the TSB for the supercharger in hand, they called someone and were told that because the vehicle is a Grey (parallel) import, the supercharger TSB replacement is not covered under the warranty. You might want to check with your local Chevrolet dealer if they will honor any recalls / TSB's. After that episode, I had had it and decided that I would do the work myself. Best decision I made: considering what I went through, I'm convinced the dealer would have screwed it up and then I would have had to pay for an entire new supercharger at my expense plus at least $550 for the labor. My way, the car was a heap of non-running metal for a month or two while I waited for the replacement parts, but even with the parts I inadvertently broke (like that little pipe in the photograph you stuffed with a piece of paper and the head cooling lines) still cost me only 1/5th of what the dealer quoted me and I know that what has been done has been done correctly. I was looking for ways to get the snout off without removing the lid, but i figured that this was probably the first and last time i would go in there so i took my time to do it right. The back bolts weren`t that bad, i wedged a broom stick between the lid and cowl, that gave me just as much space as needed. I wont lie, there was blood and sore hands after.
You are right, the new supercharger had as suspected exactly the same isolator as the ones who fails, only thing it seems that they packed it with grease uppon installing, so all of that grease was now laying under the isolator. As you I went with Hawks isolator, I like the way they fit snug on the pins both on the snout and in the supercharger, i have seen isolators that have wider holes on half of the length of the pins. I can imagine these will develop play and posible failure in the future As well as in your country there is no waranty for these here in Norway for the same reason. A GMvis is a report on every transaction between dealers and Chevy, from what dealer it was delivered to, to a "buildsheet" and every waranty claim. I asked in ZL1exlusive on FB if anyone could provide me this, and a guy who works as a service information engineer for GM reached out and emailed me all he could find on my ch. number Ole

One year + of ownership
Long time no post. But happy New Year to all 5.gen fans. I have had this beauty for litle over a year now. Absolutely love this car. I have only put 4000km (2500mls) on it during the summer. But i have done some cosmetic mods at my prefference. Full chrome delete on the exteriour, tinted side markers and a Andersson Composites carbon ZL1 spoiler.
Also changed the Good Years for a set of Pirelli P-Zero PZ4`s No real further plans other then to enjoy the car when winter is over

This is the coolest car in Norway.... Happy New Year!!
I can't believe the solid isolator wasn't there after the SC install. On my 2012 #23 the SC was replaced because of the isolator. Very strange but you really have a solid car there. |
