Brake noise

I was riding today with my windows down. And it seems like I began to hear noise sound like chirping from my brakes. I was wondering how many miles are you guys putting on your car before you needed new brake pads. I have 9970 on mine. I have not being too aggressive driving the car or braking the car. How much can I expect to pay to get my brakes repaired at the dealer?

GA, still warm there..., and too low in miles to experience an issue with the pads...ok, may I ask if you broke in the brakes properly...did you follow any of the break in procedures, as in burnishing them as per the manual. There was a topic that showed cracking and flaking as I recall when they first came out in '12. I can't remember under what circumstances that occured though, I think the owner may have changed them out for another brand because of the dust issue and saw that condition, not sure...but there are pics. Did you baby the car and not break them in after acquiring it? Irregardless it shouldn't do it...I surmise, but....it was specifically spelled out how to break those brakes in from the get go....

I went back and looked at the manual and it said this:

Brake Burnishing
New brake pads must be burnished
before racing or other competitive
driving.

My understanding of this (I could be wrong) is that if you aren't racing the burnishing process isn't necessary (according to the wording in the manual). I have not raced or competively driven my Z.

give them a good hard stop or 2 from a decent speed. mine squealed when the car was new until i really put it down on the brakes. my SS used to have squeaky brakes since new as well

I checked my pads around 15K miles, I'd say I still have at a minimum another 15K miles before they scrub the rotor. I'd do what Joes407 said and report back.
