Best lookin 2019 I’ve seen yet! Lol. Dig the orange crush, and not bad performance specs for the price.

Anyway, I like that they are offering it but at the end of the day I can't see getting this over the V6. The price difference is minimal. |

I would like to drive one. I have a V6 1LE and its gutless under about 4k and the gearing sucks.

Almost like they are trying to steal some buyers from the hot hatch segment

If we're ever in the market for another Camaro...I'd probably go with the turbo 1LE

I had a hot hatch, and if it came down between this turbo 1LE, a Focus ST, Golf GTI, BRZ/FRS, or WRX, I'd choose the turbo 1LE.
I'd take a Golf R or Focus RS over the turbo, but that's also an $8k difference. I can't think of another (new) $30k track capable car except maybe a MX-5 Clubsport, but I'm not sure if the Miata's brakes are up fro track duty. It's not a bad deal if you want to be a track rat, honestly. |

A turbo Camaro was very fast in last year's autocross nationals. I can imagine the 1LE version of the turbo will post some impressive lap times compared to the low-powered coupe competition, which is the Miata, Fiat 124, Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86... particularly on tracks where it will reach higher speeds on straightaways. Of course, compared to the SS 1LE, the turbo 1LE is much weaker on the big tracks but probably close in autocross (particularly if you upgrade wheels and tires to the quality of the SS 1LE). I was happy how my V6 1LE did in CAM-C...
I own a 2018 V6 1LE and if I was making the purchase this next year I'd still get it: not the SS 1LE because it's considerably more expensively to buy and operate, and not the turbo 1LE because the sound and feel of a turbo 4 does not stir me like the wailing V6 (also I think 335 hp is good for track days, but 275 would be a little snooze on long straights). Plus, I'm old school, I prefer the sound and feel of n/a motors. But I'm also older than the target market for the turbo 1LE. I think the turbo Camaro 1LE will attract some Miata/124/BRZ/86 buyers when they see lap time comparisons from tracks like VIR, Streets of Willow and Laguna Seca. However, the 180 hp 2019 Miata may have something for the turbo 1LE. |
