Agreed. I don't care if the HC or some exotic make has more power. It's what you can do with that power pound for pound. I've seen a SmartCar yank the tires on the drag strip. I'd rather have the claim as the quickest Camaro ever as opposed to the quickest car ever. One day we will all scoff at 640 anyway. Just sayin!

Probably the same day we're all comparing the kW rating of our electric drive motors.

I think it'll come in higher than the LT4 in the Z06. It'll have more room for a bigger SC lid. That alone will be worth more power let alone the increased cooling capability and hopefully freer air intake plumbing...

thoughts on GM also be bumping up the Z06 power? maybe that is the reason for the delay for 2017 Z06? or maybe just working on cooling...

I think they will definitely bump up the power for the ZL1. I also think MY 16 and 17 belongs to the Camaro and Corvette will own MY 18.

Just would like to see lbs/hp reduced to point where it is 1/4 mile winner -- no doubts.

670HP and 650lbs. of torque in a car like that is going to be awesome. I hope it is true!

I'm thinking the 17 Z06 will get a slight bump in power since the ZL1 will probably come in around 660hp. So maybe 665hp for the Z06. Just thinking out loud.

Unfortunately the 2017 Z06 information is out and still same 650 hp and 8
Speed.

The Zl1 could end up the hp King for GM for the 50 anniversary year ... Again more reason to own one

If anyone says 649 meet me at the flagpole at 3PM for a beating! Don't be late either. I have 3 other beatings scheduled already.

Yeah I saw that. I really hope GM allows the ZL1 to pass up the Z06 in HP. How sweet would that be? But since the Z06 stayed the same now I gotta say 645 or 650hp.

I sure wish that were the case, but I could only see them using that reason for dethroning the z06 if we were in the final production year of the current 6th Gen model... and then using that as a foundation for the 7th Gen zl1.

Unfortunately, we're just in our 2nd year and the c7 still has at least 2 more years of shelf life. So there would be nothing inherently special about the 50th anniversary because the 51st, 52nd, etc would still get the same treatment. But I love surprises, so I'd gladly welcome one from GM that gives us more powaa'.

At least we won't have 50 catback threads a week that basically all say the same thing.
