Perspective owner
Good morning to all, I have an opportunity to purchase a brand new 2017 2lt 1le and a local dealer. The will be taking place tomorrow 1/26/19. The car has a build date of 11/16. Is there anything I need to have the dealer do before taking delivery of this Camaro that has been sitting? Any advice or general input is welcomed. Thanks in advance!

I actually haven't heard of anything bad out of the 2lt 1le. Mostly very positive things to be honest. Have you tried searching in the 1le owners section? Might be more beneficial there.
Congrats on the car and welcome to the family!

Assuming it is the same drive train as the SS, if it is an Auto Trans be aware of the dreaded shudder. IMO, it is not if, but when! Search the forum. Also, search for rear diff issues. I have experienced both (several times with the rear diff). My suggestion is get the extended warranty as long as you don't plan on modding the car drive train. Otherwise, the cars are fun to drive and look sweet. Good luck

OP, I'd check the paint quality, the battery and the tires, do a proper test drive, buy the extended warranty upfront, and if the price is right, go ahead However, if you want to be very-very thorough with your inspection, here's the GM 2017 PDI checklist, hope it helps.

arpad_m, awesome checklist thanks I will be using that. I will definitely be tracking, auto crossing, spirited mountain drives, and some longer highway trips with it. This will be my mostly everyday car. I do plan on staying stock for quite awhile. I’m trading in a 2016 fiesta st had an 06 GTO before and miss rear drive! I figured I’d try and have a battery and tires thrown in along with an extended warranty! Thanks for all of the quick responses! Seems like an awesome community!

From what the pics say it’s like 7 miles and I’d assume no oil changes. I am going to try and have the fluids changed before delivery. I’ll have to check the scheduled maintenance to see what needs done. I know cars don’t like just sitting around doing nothing but look pretty!

So sticker price was $37480 marked down to $26997. This is a brand new never titled car that has been on their lot for a little over two years.

Only thing I'd worry about is if sitting on the lot so long could hurt anything...I'd check paint, tires, and take her for a good long drive.
Otherwise, the V6 1LE is a solid car. No big issues there. Go get it!

V6 1LE doesn't get the e-diff, just a limited slip. Essentially it gets the base SS suspension (FE3) / wheels / brakes / npp exhaust.

Sounds like a good deal! I traded a 16 Fiesta ST for a 17 LT V6 manual that was also sitting on the lot for nearly 2 years. No issues with the car, although I did change the oil right away since it was already 2 years old. Might check for flat spots on the tires if it has been sitting without moving for a long time. Battery might be weak if it was dead for a while too. Nothing there that would keep me from buying the car, and especially at a great deal like that. I got a similar discount but yours is a little better!
I like the Camaro more than the FiST, although the FiST is a very fun little car. The Camaro seems much bigger and handles better. I am sure the 1LE will be even more fun. The V6 is surprisingly good, and since yours is a 17 you can get the GM performance intake with GM tune (all warranty supported). The manual trans is a bit notchy, not as smooth as the FiST but not bad. |

This would be my first Camaro, I do know what I’m getting in the 2lt 1le. (Been back and forth on this for a few months since first finding the car!) My main question was just any worries with the car sitting so long. I did back in 04 buy a brand new 02 Honda cbr954rr but I know they changed battery and tires. I did enjoy the FiST but it has over heating issues on track and has been having small but annoying electrical gremlins.

Congrats! Don't know what the roads are like where you live, but the smartest thing I did when I bought my car was to take the Tire & Wheel warranty that the dealer offered. 4 Tires replaced in just under 2 years of owning the car.

As others have stated paint, tires, fresh oil and filter. Double check but being brand new (never titled) I think you should still get the full factory warranty.
