Side skirts support vehicle.

I don’t think it is intended for the side skirts to support the vehicle. Took my vehicle somewhere to put different tires on. They had one of those rubber mat low rise lifts. Drove vehicle on and lifted it right up, nothing seemed to have broken but…. Was that a good idea?

If nothing broke, the lift must have supported the vehicle from the frame. The side skirts are made from plastic that won't carry even your weight, let alone the car's.

^^
This

They are purely cosmetic/aesthetics, the Camaro unibody is rigid like a tank. If you lift it from the right places it’s bulletproof. And that is not one of them.

I lift from the pinch welds running along side the side skirts. I have installed jack pads that bolt to the pinch welds to make it easier.

It was mostly the floor pan that was supporting the car it seems. The plastic side skirts were solid on the low rise lift. As far as I can tell nothing was damaged. I don’t want to see that again though.
