Camaro depreciation
I realize that most sports cars including Camaro depreciate at a higher rate during the fall and winter months, but it seems this year my 1LT V6 convertible has been hit exceptionally hard. KBB currently has my cars trade in value at just $22,323, this on a car that had an MSRP new just shy of $39K and has just 3,700 miles. Sadly, i know that the value will only drop more in the winter months ahead. A depriciation near $17K from MSRP in just 3 months and under 3,700 miles of ownership is unexpected and to say the least disappointing. While I knew going in depreciation takes it’s toll, I can’t help but wonder if the refreshed 19 models and possibly other factors besides the typical seasonal drops in value may be hitting preowned Camaro’s extra hard....

Funny cause here in Quebec the used one are almost as expensive as a new one... Depends on the trim and equipment though.

$39k for a V6 1LT?? That’s the first problem. That price is more bloated than a sumo wrestler post buffet

That was the MSRP on a 2018 1LT Convertible with V6 A8 and premium paint with RS and Tech Packages. The 2019 is even higher......Convertibles had a 6K price premium over coupes in 18 and now have a $6,500 price premium over the coupe for 2019...

Your car is not an investment ... enjoy your ride and forget about the current value of your car. I am in the same boat.

Granted, it's not much better for the SS's one year off the lot. Got mine, not even a year old and 5300 on the clock for $14k off MSRP. The original owner took a nasty hit on that too.

Still a rip off a price to begin with. That’s why the insane depreciation. The words “Camaro V6” and “$39k” make no sense to me. Vert or not.

I wouldn't exactly say it's depreciated by $13k. If you want to see a more accurate depreciation value, you need to look at the current RETAIL value of the car. Then compare that to the original MSRP.

If I'm not mistaken, there's a 2LT vert at the dealer where I got mine, for $42k
V6-A8, 2018 model, pretty sure. New. How does that fit in with being reasonable? |

The very reason the last two Camaro's I have bought were used. The first 14' SS vert had only 1240 mi and my current 15' Z/28 had only 591 mi. There are some good used buys out there with really low miles, just need to spend the time to look.

Depreciation is bad for just about everyone....30-40% in the first year is not uncommon.
You only "lose" when you sell....lol....Just get the lowest price you can at first to help "soften the blow"....Good luck. Don't let it spoil your enjoyment of a new car. https://buzzdrives.com/20-cars-that-...in-value-3/14/ |
