Eh, the trucks are kind of a big deal so I would expect those to debut at an auto show like Detroit.

The two door weighs less and because it is a shorter wheel base it maneuvers quite well. Drop the rear bench seat and you have a ton of cargo area that in enclosed, unlike a truck. If GM made it, it would be a great seller and then if GM decided to make a more worthy offroad version like the ZR2. Well.. one can dream. |

If anything, GM needs a smaller, cheaper RWD sports car, not a full size coupe. It's pretty evident Camaro's starting to move into the traditional Corvette role as Corvette goes midengine. Might be time to start thinking about something to slot in below Camaro.

It would just end up a bigger, heavier and slower Camaro. There aren't enough engines to have the Chevelle be worth the cost, even though I would love to park a modern Chevelle next to my 70. Besides, they would probably make it look like a Honda with 4 doors.

I'm imagining something almost as nimble as a Miata but powered by a V6 like the 370Z. Should be possible to get it to weigh about 3000 lbs, and price it somewhere in the 30's. It would be a great entry point for Corvette while being pretty distinct from the Camaro. Question is, I don't know how much market there would be for it or how many new buyers it would pull in vs stealing from Camaro & Corvette.

If GM wants to attack the 'affordable RWD' market they should do something lightweight and turbocharged. Give it a manual, make it handle well and keep it somewhat economical and they could have a winner. To me, your suggestion reminds me of a Camaro V6 1LE.
