Not yet. Wireless AA is coming down the road at some point. But it may require new hardware (phone or myLink)

Unfortunately not yet. Currently both android auto and carplay have to be done via wires. Knowing GM when android auto and carplay are ready to go wireless, GM will not update our cars. Just like they didn't up any cars with compatible mylinks 2015 and older to all android auto and carplay

No. That is required by the Android system, not the car's.

So this defeats the wireless charger option big time...

Right now, wireless charging is probably too low power to keep up with the power used when the phone is connected thru AA. I think there are fast wireless charging protocols being adopted and deployed now. But I'm betting like USB3, you can be backwards compatible but not get that fast charger without charger that supports it.

Again I've not seen any details on what type of wireless technology Apple and Google want to use to support their software in cars. Wi-Fi Direct is my likely pick since it has high bandwidth and speed compared to standard WiFi. But that will likely mean new hardware is needed for myLink.

I think the size of the wireless charger defeated itself long before AA...

If you have problem with it recognizing the USB connection you have to turn on USB Debugging in the Developer options on your phone.

I would make one successful connection, and the subsequent attempts it would not recognize my phone, until I turned on USB debugging.

I think he is talking about the AA Update. Has to be done by the dealer and not the customer.

Thumbs up

Got my AA flashed yesterday. It took a few hours so I'm glad I didn't wait on it.

It paired right away with my Nexus 5x.

Pros:
-Google Maps is amazing. Navigation, traffic, voice search (using the button on the screen), and categories all work well.
-The music section automatically recognized Amazon Music and I can select recently played stations and playlists just like from the app.

Cons:
-No Waze support.
-Phone in Car Mode so using Waze on road trips will be tough.
-Steering wheel voice button doesn't integrate as promised.

Overall I'm pleased. There are still some development issues, but I view them as minor. The GUI and UX are miles ahead of Apple Car Play.

For those of you using Android Auto, where are you setting your phone? I didn't think it looked like the console lid has a pass through for the phone cord. Do you just leave it in the console?

you can fit wires under the console lid easily, all around the lid.

I leave mine in the cup holder
