The Hellcat is the bigger head turner. Even after it being out for a couple of years it's still rare enough to be a crowd maker. Its worth more than the camaro, resale

Camaro- it will handle better and be more fun all around. And to me better to look at.

I have run into a family connection where I can purchase a low mile 2015 stock hellcat for 43k. It’s Mint. Or I have my eyes on a 2017 1LE with the same mileage (about 5k) for 33k.

I intend to drive either about 10k a year. No road courses, maybe the occasional 1/4 mile that’s right by my house. I have access to mountain roads too. Thoughts? Anyone driven a manual 6 hellcat challenger? Before anyone says ZL1, I don’t want to spend 52k. Which one between the 1LE and hellcat?
No brainer, the 1LE will run circles around the Hellcat in the twisties!

Having owned and put up with my Camaro for the past 20 months the choice would be clear to me. Hellcat all the way. I wouldn't buy either car in Stick but that's your preference so go for it.

Hellcat is roomier, faster in a straight line but also a land yacht. If I were to get a Hellcat anything it would be an auto, not a manual. Chances are that hellcat has been hammered on pretty hard as well.

1LE is going to handle much better, the 6spd Tremec is awesome, it's newer and I think it looks better, but that's always subjective. For the price difference you could always add a supercharger if you want faster.

Both are plenty fast enough to get you into a lot of trouble.

Some early ones also had driveshaft and crank pulley issues.

For 43k that's a nice deal, I've seen some low mileage one go for $45k. So not too far off. They will probably come down a bit more now that the 2019's have the higher 717 and 797 hp ratings.

Hellcat makes more power.

Camaro would be faster in the vast majority of situations. And the Camaro isn't a Chrysler...

All the best,

Jared

Hellcat. I would get an auto though...

Why would you pick the substantially slower car, if that $10k difference doesn't really matter to you?

Now, if this were a more reasonable choice between a ZL1 or the Hellcat it'd be a different story...ZL1 ftw

If you don't mind the extra attention, I'd definitely get the Hellcat.
…..…….Furthermore, if you (or anyone for that matter) don't plan on road coursing the car, why would anyone buy a 1LE? It's not faster than an SS, is it? It just seems like you would be paying more for a stiffer ride and more expensive parts (tires, brakes, etc.).

Apple and Orange comparison. Go with your gut.

The Hellcat for the horsepower or the SS 1LE for the handling! The Hellcat is pricey though!

That $10k price difference is quite a bit but if that is not an issue, I would say Hellcat. That being said, I love my 1LE and if you can get one for $33k that is great.

I would say if you do not track, get the Hellcat. It will hold it's value a little better as well I think over time.

But both are super smart choices over buying a new one!
