RoadCourse build.Stock pulley, X ported 1.7 DYNO RESULTS

The title pretty much says it. Mods in my signature are finally in progress. I’m recovering from back fusion surgery so I’m getting started on this later in the year than I had hoped.

My premise: I want to stay with stock pulleys to avoid increasing heat. I love ethanol (I’ve been running e70) and want to run full e85 if possible. Obviously I want the power bump of the Kong Stage X port. I’m at 650whp now at 6000ft.

How I plan to get there:
FUEL - I already have the JMS Powermax Booster so I want to tune it that way to see how far it takes me (low side fuel). I’m installing the LPE HPFP and XDI +30 injectors while Kong does their work. That’s my fuel system. I concede that the low side will probably be my limiting factor now. At some point I will probably do a cam and DSX low side pump. But not now. I’m going to see what this set up makes.

AIR - I’m pulling the Soler ported oem throttle body and installing a NW103. I’m pulling the standard Rotofab for a Big Gulp. And obviously doing the Kong Stage X.

COOLING - I don’t have much yet. I have the small engine bay auxiliary coolant tank and run as much ethanol as possible. I’m considering a C&R exchanger and adding coolant capacity with either a fender tank or trunk tank but not before dyno’ing this set up. I want to log some driving with just the ethanol and small auxiliary tank to see if there is any difference.

I wasn’t running a catch can and with mild mods and about 5500 miles on the car I had some oil pooling in the low spots and valleys under the lid. I’m adding an Elite CC while the SC is out.

GOALS - I definitely expect 700whp and would be ecstatic if it makes 750whp. I reasonably expect to land somewhere in between. I’d appreciate any input, critiques or fair criticisms but I doubt I’ll deviate much from the plan at this point as the wheels are in motion. I’m not trying to save money on this build. I do my own wrenching and pay for tuning. I want to make power and not run hotter. It’s that simple for me. Down the road I’m open to auxiliary low side, cam and cooling mods.

Unfortunately this is what took so long LOL.

But I’m back at it now.

Has anyone completed recent porting with Kong? I’m curious as to actual turn around time of late. I’ve heard they are extremely busy right now. I shipped to them yesterday with an arrival date of this Friday April 22. I’m hoping for 2 weeks but wouldn’t be surprised to see 3 weeks.

Just a heads up….Next week I’ll be listing the Soler ported oem TB with throttle controller and standard Rotofab in classifieds. I’m heading out of town for a few days or I’d be listing them today.

I had Greg write a custom port job on my Whipple 2.9. It definitely took a lot longer to get back then he had originally planned. I’d still do it again and Greg is a good dude, thankfully better at porting than time estimating.

LOL good to know. I’m skeptical of the “approximately 2 week” turn around time.

Ha! That’s what he told me. I think it was 5 or 6 weeks but in his defense he did have R&D before he could do mine since he didn’t previously have a program for it. But in you’re case it should be more straightforward.

And probably better customer service by far than Jokerz. I can't knock Jokerz results though.

You're still not going to be able to run full e-85 with that set up.With your hp increase your actually going to have to run less than e-70. Forget the c&r exchanger the stock ones are good. I would not spend all that money for the xdi and the lpe hpfp because they will never get you to e-85 and you would also need an aux low side for those mods anyway the booster is not enough.

If you love ethenol then get the toohigh spacers and port injection on the stock supercharger with a Holley ecu .You will need a secondary low side. Believe it or not but this will still be cheaper than doing the xdi and lpe and you will actually be able to run full e-85.

Be prepared to change tires. I have yet to find one that sticks.

Appreciate the info on the exchanger. I was wondering if they really make a noticeable difference. You are probably right on running less ethanol. Wishful thinking on my part haha.

I already have the injectors and HPFP on hand and I’d kind of like to do a cam next and would do a low side at that time. So I’m gonna run with this and see what happens. I’ll be happy for a day or 2 just making the extra power lol. And I am ok with blending ethanol. I have a Bluetooth reader and it’s super easy.

Thanks for the input.
