Alcantara Care

For any of you guys who have the alcantara steering wheels, shifter, and seats. How do you go about cleaning them. I have tried to clean my steering wheel several times with Sonax alcantara cleaner and everything I do so, the steering wheel has a rough or dry feeling to it instead of soft. Also whenever I brush the steering whee dust seems to come off (quite a bit of dust) yet a damp microfiber can’t pick any of it up.

I have watched several different videos on cleaning alcantara steering wheels. No method i use changes the outcome. Whether I dampen the wheel and work the sonax in with a tooth brush, or I just scrub the wheel sonax and a microfiber. The wheel always comes out rough… it’s worth mentioning that I think my wheel is clean as there is no matting. Another thing I’ve noticed is the wheel has started to leave my hands a little sticky… could be unrelated though.

Woolite diluted with distilled water, soft cloth, fresh, plain distilled water to wipe second time with additional soft cloth, and a very soft brush to "fluff" after. Works like a charm, a little goes a long way, no stiffness, no residues, just soft, clean, fluffy Alcantara.

Moist towel, clean in both directions. Rinse towel if really dirty. Once dry, feels like new. Material is super durable, but it does wick up hand oil like a sponge, turning a dark gray and lightly tacky.

Cleans up easily, no chemicals required. The same microfiber towel I used to dry the car, I'll clean the bits alcantara bits - hey, it's already wet

you want to make sure you get all the cleaner out of the fibers by rinsing with moist towel. blowing it dry with a hair dryer on cool setting while you fluff may help.
