Yes, you can never run ice with an ice tank, HX, etc. and be fine, your MAT temps just won't be as low, thus losing some power. Chiller gives you the ice temps all the time, need them or not. For me, personally, I don't care much about those frigid temps unless I'm going for personal best times, in which case I'm at the track. My "Mexico" days are over. :-)

Don't get me wrong, ice is never convenient - track or not. Lol.

By your ET, I assume your Mexico days are over due to a full cage ... if not for other reasons

It's just not worth the risks to me. I'm happy to take risks on the track where at least some variables are controlled and help is standing by should things go bad. Not to mention, I have soon to be teen drivers and I'd rather lead by example versus hearing dad was picked up from jail for being an idiot on the road.

Valid points. When your car is as quick as yours, there's very little to enjoy on the street anyway.

Yes which is why I said added volume helps. But 6+ gallons takes a bit to cool
Down if just using the chiller only with the trunk tank and no ice. I need at least 5+ minutes to bottom out the coolant temps with my 2G fender tank.

At the track different story though as you can dump Ice right in.

Those "other reasons" have a way of becoming the primary reasons

I didn't see a single person in here trying to "school" Katech on thermo. I saw a debate on which is more effective an ice tank vs chiller. Katech commented that both are effective in their own way and optimal would be both which I don't think anyone was questioning.

Agreed. And furthermore, Katech was wrong about the Interchiller leaving condensation on the race track (it actually doesn’t), so it’s good that our fellow members were able to correct them on that important point.

I'm doing some more testing, I am fully insulating all of the lines with this wrap i found on amazon. I wrapped about half of the lines today in the engine bay and I brought down the water temps 10F more then they ever were. It was 85F today, and i was pretty much averaging 85-88F MAT temps cruising with some throttle.

I am going to wrap the rest of the lines take some pics and show some results. I think the chiller is fighting the hot temps of the engine especially the lines around the headers/reservoir and this stuff is definatel'y working.

Here is what I used.

Here is a boring 9 minute video. It was 86F outside, I started the video after car and a/c was already on. I rough wrapped my lines to see how it would fit but the wrap I got was 1” ID, was a bit small. Since then I’ve got 1 1/4 wrap and redid it all. Idle seems to be about the same, however with hood closed and driving my MAT’s are hovering right at ambient 85F ambient I was 86F MAT. After 2 60-130 pulls it didn’t even hit 100F.

Wrapping them seems to have dropped temps 5-10F lower then before.

This weekend it’s suppose to be 97F so we’ll see then.
