Good pattern spotting vtirocz. Anyone have a theory as to why the 1SS should get the sound tube, but not the 2SS or LT1?

Why keep it only on 1SS and remove it on 2SS & LT1? Here's some thoughts:
They may also have a longer term goal of cost reducing it out and need to use up the existing inventory on the specific model where they think the customer might notice it most.

Just for interior engine sound. If it improved performance I’m all for it. Noises and sounds? No. |

I mentioned this to you before, but that car door shut sound is also engineered to sound more solid. Not functional, but I don't see people crying foul over that. https://melmagazine.com/en-us/story/...nd-engineering Also $50 for some plastic tubes? Cut me a break. In a manufacturing setting, it's probably $20 or less for a car.

In a manufacturing setting, it would cost far less to produce.

If you click on the link I posted in my previous post, you’ll see there’s a larger assembly at the end of the hose. Inside that assembly is a diaphragm. The air going through the intake creates vacuum that moves the diaphragm which is tuned to the engine sound. The sound that comes into the interior you’re hearing is not the actual engine humming, but air from the intake vacuum amplified by the diaphragm. It’s really an air motor.

If you've got the NPP, put in track mode and nail the gas a couple of times in downtown traffic, you'll be looking for a side street to hide on before you know who comes looking. Your passengers will be impressed. It may not be "real" but it sounds awesome! If you're looking to keep a stock exhaust awhile but want the sound you paid for, install a sound tube. I happen to have a complete one for sale BTW from a 2017SS. Drop me a PM. Complete- not just the first half at the GMpartsstore, $20 bucks plus shipping. |

Looks clean! That matches up with the trend of LT1 and 2SS do not get the sound tube, while the 1SS does on MY20 and later vehicles.
