I run the et street r, no idea in mileage. I probably get 500 miles out of mine but that includes probably 50 passes at the track with pretty big burnouts. I have tried the ss, 275pro and 325r and the 325r works best for me.

I have driven in the rain, sure you don’t want to go 80mph or fast around corners but you can do it if you slow down a little. They have a great ride. Smooth and quiet like a pillow.

So, if I go 555r2 for rear, are you guys putting 555g2 in front? I am thinking 18x6 rim in front and 17x 10.5 or 11for rear.

The tread pattern on the G2 matches the tread on the 555R2 if that matters to you. That being said, I tend to prefer the best tire possible on the front for treading water if you drive your car daily or in the rain. Its hard to beat a Michelin PS4S for the front but if it bothers you about running different brand tires, then just go with the G2's up front. They certainly aren't bad tires.

I have the PS4s now. I do like keeping the treads similar. I usually don't drive the car if I think it will rain, but you never know if you will get stuck in some.

I will say R888Rs don’t hold the power at all as they claim. Better than stock tires I’m sure, but they don’t do 60 rolls for me well at all. I’m sure at maybe 750 ish HP their great. But not when you start getting in the 900s.

Also 17” MT ET Street Rs would not hook for me on the street. 16 PS1 - 18 psi I tried on multiple occasions with bigger burnouts to clean them off. My car would break loose on 60-130 pulls unless starting at 50 mph in 5th gear. 15” conversion is going on before next summer.

I run G2 front 555r2 rear. I don't drive my car in rain or bad weather but the setup works great for me. No issues the few times I have been on a damp road or when I have been caught in a rain shower.

So to the guys suggesting the 555rll, are you saying it's better for traction then the r888r from a dig, from a roll and in the rain, and tire life is as good or better?
I was going to replace the 315/30/20 r888r's I have that are toast with the 325/30/20 version, but they didn't last all that long and won't be a dd, just straightline stuff, but I do have the 350 mile round trip to get there...

The 555R2 is at least as good or better as the R888R in every way other than handling so if you're road racing your car you might be better off with the R888R. The 555R2 certainly isn't bad though in handling, its just not made to compete with the R888R for that purpose. The 555R2 is a drag radial where straight line acceleration is its intended purpose, it just so happens to be a good street tire also, where as the R888R is strictly for road racing and does ok at drag racing too if you can get enough heat into the tire but they don't do well at anything else. People who have never run the 555R2 hear drag radial and immediately think its a soft sidewall tire that flexes and makes the car feel wobbly but that just isn't the case. The 555R2 is a VERY good all around performance tire only giving up some wet weather performance compared to a top of the line street tire like the Michelin PS4S, and the treadwear is going to be a lot less since the 555R2 has softer rubber for grip.

I ran the MT Rs on my Camaro and the Nitto 555r2s on my C7 and love them both. The
MT Rs aren't going to be a good street tire but the 555r2s are great. I got caught in the rain one night coming back from the track and the 555r2s really did a great job and the tread design match the Nitto 555G2s so thats a great combination. My round trip to the track is over 330 miles and you wouldn't know the difference between the R2s and a regular street tire on the round trip. I run 30 psi to the track, let them down to 20 psi and the drag race all day, put the 30 psi back in the tires and drive back home. Good to go.
